Every monday there is vintage WWF/E wrestling on Eurosport. Today, as a build up to WrestleMania, they had highlights of WM X & XI.
Anyway...........
My memory had blocked out how terrible the Bam Bam vs. LT match was. What was Vince thinking when he made this the main event? I assume it was to get exposure in the main stream media, but why was it the main event? It could have been on the card somewhere in the middle (Like the Show vs. Mayweather match). HBK vs. Diesel for the title should have been the final match of the evening.
To make this a topic and not simply a rant.....
Was BBB vs. LT the worst WrestleMania main event? If not, what was?

You're insane. First of all Bigelow did a fantastic job of carrying LT a non-wrestler to a credible looking match. Secondly having LT wrestling got the WWE some incredible media attention, because of that LT/BBB had to be the main event. I still say the worse WM main event was HHH vs. Jericho. It was so freking obvious that HHH was going to regain the strap, really Jericho didn't stand a chance. Plus The Rock/ Hogan match was the real main event & deserved to be the final card if not for Hunter whining that the title match HAD to go last.

Am I the only one who enjoyed Bam Bam vs. LT? I thought they did a pretty good job.

Yeah, I'll agree for sure. Without question, the worst WrestleMania main event was Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Lawrence Taylor. A ing football player in the main event on the biggest show of the year?? WTF was Vince thinking?? My guess, he was thinking the same thing when he thought the XFL was a good idea...Yeah..OUCH.

2nd worst IMO is Hogan vs Bundy-the rest were all good no matter what kind of a year Vince was having

Seems like people are just saying it was a bad main event because "ZOMG LT WAZNT A RESSLER!"
Honestly, I never even watched it. American football means nothing here, so I had no interest in it. I fell asleep after the title match that year. I was eleven and it was about three in the morning.
HHH-Jericho, Undertaker-Sid, Hogan-Slaughter, Hogan-Sid, and the first two WM main events all bore me to tears. I'd also never want to rewatch the main events of 21 and 22, and I hated the main event of 23.

Thanks! I can understand that they would have wanted the main stream attention (eventhough in Europe nobody actually knows/knew LT.... American Football is a non issue in Europe), so I have no problem with the match being on the card.... but it should NOT have been the main event. Diesel vs. Shawn should have been. The match for the world championship should always be the main event at Wrestlemania, preferbly old fashioned one-on-one. I do agree that Bam Bam did do his best carrying LT, but Bam Bam shouldn't have been in the main event of a Wrestlemania either. He wasn't big enough of a star. Only other celebrity in a WM main event was Mr. T. Both Piper and Orndorff stated that he had no business being in the ring. At least Mr. T was an internationally known celebrity at the time and could rely on World Champion Hogan and Piper & Orndorff to carry the match. He didn't do much in the match except do a couple of hip tosses.

I enjoyed it more than the title match which I found disappointing to be honest. Yeah LT might not mean that much in Europe but at that time the focus was getting USA PPV buys & LT was a great opportunity for that. I don't agree with the title match having to be the main event, WWE might put a title match on last but often overshadowed in the build-up to the event by another match. Recent examples are Hogan/ Vince & Hogan/Rock. Both these matches were pushed by WWE as if they were the main event despite not going on last. I'd even say the same about this year's WM with HBK/ Undertaker.

It may be the biggest match in WWE history but Hogan vs Andre at WM3 was horrible. Also WM6, Warrior vs Hogan even though was a huge main event also left alot to be desired.

I would say Triple H vs Jericho at WM18 was quite bad. It was such a letdown after Rock vs Hogan, no matter what they did was gonna be a letdown, though.
And I thought Bam Bam vs LT was good, it had big time feel to it, just like Big Show/Mayweather from last year, which I thought was the ONLY match on the card that felt big time.

The whole PPV was garbage. Far too many Celeb interaction for one event. And the most of the matches were just dumb and pointless.
But anyway. The main event wasn't bad though I don't like that it was the main event. I just don't. Has nothing to do with the title being on the line because sometimes the hype for a match simply outweighs a championship. For example, I really want Taker/Michaels to main event this year but it'll probably go to Hunter/Orton.

It was a decent match that was better than it should have been, but it shouldn't have been the main event. But I wouldn't call it the worst 'Mania main event. I'd put that on Triple H vs. Stephanie McMahon at Wrestlemania 18.

Honestly, I loved the match but I feel that is biased because I am a huge Giants fan. I believe that the World Title should always be last, but I have no issues with this match.

I never knew people hated Triple H vs. Jericho that much. For me it was just how obvious it was that HHH was leaving with the strap. Plus Hogan/ Rock was pushed so hard as the most important match & surprisingly lived up to the hype that nothing was going to follow it

I never knew people hated Triple H vs. Jericho that much. like their whole feud it was crap IMO.Jericho was just along for the ride with HHH and Steph.it stil makes me sick to this day. and to think of HHHs 2 spots on WWE.coms top WM moments THIS ranks above WM2000
