i know this should be in the classic board but itll get more replies here
Does anyone think wwe dropped the ball with HBK and The Rock in 2002
They couldve easily been set up to face each other at summerslam but wwe didnt take advantage and also at WM XIX (but rock/austin was pretty awesome)

It was better off for Rock vs Lesnar at Summerslam in my opinion, to put over Lesnar and elevate him into the Main Event spotlight, anyways the HHH vs HBK match was awesome

For the 1,000,000th time, The Rock refused to work with HBK due to the way HBK treated the Rock back when he debut and the following years.

well, even despite the fact that rock/michaels wouldn't work together, i think that lesnar really needed that extra rub from the rock to really get over with the crowd. once he won people realized "yep, we are now in lesnar age." it made him a legit threat.

There'd have been no point to Michaels vs Rock at SummerSlam 2002. HBK had the history and everything with HHH, and Rock had a title to lose to Brock. Both were babyfaces.
At WM19, maybe - but I loved that Rock got to finally beat Austin.

Haha, if anything, WWE dropped the ball with Lesnar/Michaels.
Would have been great IMO

No...dropping the ball would insinuate that the ball was picked up to begin with, but there was no discussion of the match at the time. It sucks that we never got the big match between the two, but they didn't drop the ball back in '02.

Um no.
If they ever "dropped the ball" on a match between them it was in 1999 when Michaels was guest referee in a title match between Rock and Triple H. Michaels kicked Rocky square in the mouth and cost him the match...and nothing really came out of that.
Granted Michaels couldn't wrestle and Rock I guess didn't want to have a match with him. But when it happened back then I really thought Shawn was gonna come back for a feud with Rocky. Turns out, Shawn kinda disappeared only to come back as face later on of course.

Not only did HBK screw Rock on the first episode of SD or whatever it was, he basically screwed him at Judgement Day if you think about it. When the Helmsley faction came down, you mean to tell me HBK you didnt know they would attack Rocky?
