I was bored this morning and watched wrestling with shadows (again!) And i got thinking, when they left for WCW Anvil and Bulldog didnt really get a shot at anything.
Mabye my memorie is phased but i only rember Bulldog getting hurt! How would you of booked it diffrently? Personally i think it was a waste of time signing them.

Funny, I just watched WCW Monday Nitro from June 29th 1998 today, Anvil and Bulldog were fed to Sting/Kevin Nash/Lex Luger and on that same Nitro, Bret challenged Booker T for the Television title at Bash At The Beach...I agree with you, showed their decline.

Im pretty sure Bulldog got hurt (smashed his back in) because he fell due to the random Trap Door that Warrior decided to appear from.
I would have kept on with the Hart Family gimmick. Bring them in as the force to take down NWO (at least thats what they would lead people to believe) . It would have been sweet to have had a WCW/NWO/HARTS battle. Non of them liking each other but always having up to 3 on 3 at a PPV. At this point it would have made sense to have,
NWO: Hogan, Nash, Hogan WCW: Sting, Luger, Goldberg HART: Bret, Anvil, Bulldog
Possibly even throw the Horsemen in their, I dont know why, but it just sounds fun. Have one PPV at the end of it all to decide which faction will win and rule the company. I personally would of had Team WCW & Horsemen join forces to let WCW win overall and all other factions would end.
Far to many stars at that point of WCW, nevermind the undercard.

another factor was Bret,Jim and Davey came at a bad time in WCW.
1)they were obviously planning the split in the NWO at this time with Face Wolfpac vs Heel Hollywood
2)Sting was their TOP guy for WCW-no exception so the top Face position was gonna be occupied.and with the Wolfpac story starting it was tight
I think everyone wanted to see an on form Bret teaming up with the just returned Sting to destroy the NWO.......when Savage beat Sting it should have been Savage vs Hart.but Hogan,Nash etc were never gonna step back from the Wolfpac story to allow this
but as we have said Eric wasnt paying attention

I loved when Bret Hart would show up randomly during the last five minutes of Nitro telecasts to swerve and turn heel on someone.
Anybody remember when Goldberg was going to bury Vince Russo in a desert that just so happened to be located around five miles outside of the arena? Then Hart shows up, asks to bury Russo for 'screwing him in Montreal' and clobbers big Bill over the head with the shovel instead.
So yeah, Hart's illogical random storylines are what I remember most from his run in WCW. They just couldn't use him, all that mattered was that they stole him from Vince and they had him.

See i was a big fan of Bret but what could WCW do with him that WWF hadnt already? Except the run in with sting, he was sort of done, but to bring in the bulldog and anvil too and have them do nothing was pointless too!

This about sums it up. I never got that either.

they had great potential with hart/hogan and hart/sting feuds but never capitalized. hart lost a lot of his energy for the business by his wcw run and his matches there show from it.

See i was a big fan of Bret but what could WCW do with him that WWF hadnt already? When Bret Hart went to WCW, he was the biggest story in wrestling, the champion that got screwed out of his title. Along with Sting and later Goldberg, he could have been the hero that got WCW back in the fight against the NWO. Bulldog and Anvil could've been part of that (possibly with one of them even turning on him and joining the NWO). Instead, WCW screwed up the huge Sting/Hogan feud and Bret's debut all around the same time.
