Raw House Show Results - 8/8/08 - Wildwood Convention Center - Wildwood, NJ
I stood online for about 6-7 hours to meet CM Punk and Mickie James. I have pictures that I will hopefully post in a few days.
Host: Kelly Kelly
Ring Announcer: Tony Chimel
Chimel announes we can chose tonight's World Title Main Event by texting A, B, or C to 44993.
A was a Falls Count Anywhere Match
B was 2 out of 3 Falls
C was No DQ
Chimel than has us turn to our host tonight Kelly who gave someone in the raptors the opportunity to sit ringside. Kelly screams REALLY LOUD on the microphone in the arena when she talks.
Matches:
1. Ref: John Cone
Matt Striker comes out first with a lot of heat from the crowd. Me and about 1 other person out of 7,000 are on our chairs clapping. Striker is booed so hard that when he gets the mic in the ring he says "I haven't even said anything yet!" He says her just got off the phone with GM Mike Adamle who assigned him a better opponent than Kane from this past Monday night. Striker asks to bring out tonight's opponent. So, out comes Kane to squash Striker with a Chokeslam in a few minutes. Is Kane really a heel people?
Kelly Kelly chose a guest manager for a later match. I guess the guy managed D-Lo to the ring but who really cares.
2. Ref: Marty Elias
Johnny Curtis def. Charlie Haas with a rollup. Doing some research this guy Johnny Curtis is apparently an FCW guy in training. I thought perhaps he may have done work with KC James aka James Curtis but I am not sure. Nonetheless a good wrestling match on both ends and an impressive one at that. This Johnny Curtis guy has dark hair compared to KC James and looks to have a lot more talent. He definitely has an impressive physique and hopefully makes it to the active roster in the distant future. Then again I said the same last year at this show when Haas put over Johnny Jeter than Jeter got released. But, Johnny Curtis has the potential to be a phenominal athlete. This was a good back and forth contest with Haas using his Senton Hall Talent from ameatuer wrestling to help put Johnny Curtis over. Haas slapped him around a few times and even hit him with some stiff kicks. Haas got booed out of the building before entering the match and did after he lost. The guy behind said "Boo him all you want but it's your hard earned money in his pocket" which that statement is indeed true.
3. Ref: Mike Chioda
D-Lo Brown def. Snitsky with a Lo-Down after hitting Snitsky with a Sudden Impact. Snitsky had D-Lo in a Bear Hug like manuever and D-Lo did his infamous head bops which I found funny. Snitsky also flapped his boobs up and down to get heel heat from the crowd which was also quite amusing. Not much happened here other than a nice pop for D-Lo yet know one knew who was coming out when D-Lo's song firsty hit I was already standing on my chair clapping. D-Lo carried a kid to the back on his shoulders after the match. A nice gesture I suppose.
4. Ref: Marty Elias
William Regal def. Jamie Noble with a Running Knee Lift. A good fight between these to lots of punches and kicks by Regal. It seems we could see a feud as well with these two on TV in the coming weeks since Regal was attacked by Noble on Raw this past Monday. Regal was also not liked by the crowd. Just an OK match. Moving on.
5. Ref: John Cone
Intercontinental Championship: Kofi def. Santino with Trouble in Paradise
Santino came out wearing somewhat longer tights than usual. Upon entering the ring, Santino shakes hands with Jone Cone and acts like he wants to shake hands with Chimel but Santino quickly pulled his hand away. Santino said Brodzilla (Beth Pheonix) was not here tonight, but he was going to win the IC Title tonight and make Summerslam easier for her.
He showed us a new maneuver he would be debuting tonight called the Mazaratti Clutch. Santino just showed a clutch like maneveur with his hands. Santino attempted to do the move during the match but Kofi countered. OK match here to not much excitement. Kofi hit his regular Boom Boom Boom Leg Drop which got a big pop and hit a few high cross bodies. After the match concluded Santino informed something to Tony Chimel. Chimel then gets on the mic and says the following:
"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN SANTINO MARELLA WOULD LIKE YOU TO ALL KNOW THAT HE IS OK" and thank God for that right?
INTERMISSION
6. Ref: Marty Elias
Women's Championship: Mickie James def. Katie Lea Burchill with a Mick Kick. A good divas match as all of the matches between these 2 have been. Katie looked stunning as she came out. Seriously STUNNING. And Mickie, she just looked good all day long too. Mickie wins everyone cheers. Katie did not get much of a pop and Paul was no where to be found. But still, a good divas contest.
7. Ref: John Cone
6 Man Tag: CTC def. Chris Jericho & Priceless
Jericho comes out fist to a mixed reaction with those short ing tights again. He cuts a promo talking about HBK announcing his retirement at Summerslam. Y2J says we can cheer HBK all we want but Shawn Michaels is a liar and a hypocrite. Priceless comes out wearing the same stuff as Monday. Cryme Tyme comes to ringside for a big pop. They wait to enter the ring until Cena comes out. John Cena comes out. The arena is very pro-Cena in Wildwood so he gets the biggest pop of the night. CTC enters the ring as Y2J & Team Priceless run out of the ring. Cena gets on the mic and says some BS like you can't fight the people outside of the ring cause you guys will get arrested so get your asses in the ring now so we can fight. Y2J & Team Priceless charge CTC who throw than over the top rope. JTG started the match with Y2J and a lot of hot tags were made. Shad was tagged in first but he quickly tagged in Cena since the crowd was dying to see hime enter. The match ended when Cena hit Y2J with an FU than drop toe holded Ted DiBiase, Jr. with an STFU to end the match via submission.

JBL comes out to cut a promo asking himself what he is doing in Wildwood, NJ on a Friday Night. He says he will never step foot in this toilet bowl ever again. He said there is a difference between people from NY and NJ. He also says he's richer than everyone in the arena combined because he and his wife are featured in that magazine from Raw this week. He says he hopes we enjoy marrying our sisters or our aunts or whatever we do here "down south" which got a lot of laughs. Chimel started shaking his head at JBL. Then JBL said he is an honest man and all that other crap and Chimel started nodding. JBL told Chimel to shut up and called him Mr. Penguin.
Punk def. JBL with a GTS to retain the World Title. Real Back and forth match with Punk & JBL hitting all their moves. JBL hit Punk with a few trash can lids which Punk sold well and JBL even smashed Punk into the steps a few times. Hopefully a good preview for Summerslam and things to come with these two who sold the match so well and potentially could have a great feud in the distant future.
