I hate making posts. Especially opinionated posts. Who cares what I have to say? What makes me a better fan than the next guy? Absolutely nothing in regards to my opinion.
Yet, all I see are changes and people just complain about them. It saddens me that no matter what happens, there are so many people that are going to complain. And they complain because the storyline doesn't go the way THEY wanted it to, rather than looking at the bigger pictures. i.e. When someone says Cena should be fired because they don't like him, yet he sells the most merchandise and is an established main eventer.
So I feel like talking about what I'm currently enjoying about the WWE product. Plus, I have a couple hours to kill before class.
1. First and above all, the Shawn Michaels-Ric Flair-Chris Jericho-Batista feud that has been going on since March. It is so rare that you can build one awesome feud off of another. The best example I can think of is Bret Hart feuding with Steve Austin leading into the Hart Foundation feuding with team USA with Michaels vs. Undertaker, leading to Bret vs. Undertaker and ultimately Bret vs. Michaels.
The feud has been phenomenal all the way through. Jericho is a PERFECT heel because he absolutely believes in what he's saying. Yet Shawn Michaels didn't do anything wrong. He did what HBK has always done, being whatever it takes to win a match. But Jericho's convinced he's right and is an ass about it, and they play off each other so well. Last night was ANOTHER twist in the storyline, that Jericho will never be like Michaels. Ultimately, it's leading to Michaels vs. Jericho on PPV again, and there is absolutely no bad in that as they will steal the show without question. Hopefully at Summerslam, as well.
2. New blood. Say what you want, if you don't think CM Punk, Kofi Kingson, Ted Debiase, or Cody Rhodes deserve their belts, but the WWE is pushing NEW stars, which is crucial in building a future. Michaels, Triple H, Undertaker, Kane, these guys can't carry the company forever. Just like they built up Cena and Batista and Orton a few years ago, they're successfully building a new tier of superstars for the upcoming years. Really, it's only uphill from there.
3. Edge has become perfect in his heel role, it's great to see him so comfortable in it. He's so sleezy and just cares about the Championship that he's willing to use whoever to get to it. He's more like a movie villian than a heel ever. I've been an Edge fan since his debut and it's great to finally see him in this main event role, being the top face on Smackdown! for so long.
4. Kelly Kelly wrestled last night and didn't botch ONE SINGLE MOVE! Color me impressed.
5. JBL IS POOPY! If they put that on a t-shirt, I'm buying that in a second.
6. I have little hope that the Intercontinental title will ever be what it used to be, being a catalyst into the main event, but it's great to see two fresh faces apparently starting a feud OVER THE BELT rather than anything else.
7. I am in love with the fact that WWE owns so much footage. Do you guys watch the 24/7 channel? Watching the past Raw's is fantastic as it's around when D-X started forming and the Rock just became the Rock. Such a great time to relive in the WWE. Not to mention all the older PPVs and TV footage they're pumping out every week. It's worth every dollar. All the DVDs they've been putting out have been incredible as well. I'm not a big fan of the "talk about the match then show it" format they've done with Rock and Austin DVDs, but when they do a biography and include some classic and rare matches, I drool all over it.
8. Is anyone else really excited about an Edge vs. Triple H match? I don't really care about the outcome at this point. I don't expect Edge to take the belt, nor do I think he should although I'm a bigger Edge fan than Triple H right now. Still, I can't remember the last time (if ever) these two have had a big profile one-on-one contest, and I'm anxious to see how it turns out.
9. I have to bring it up because I've always loved it about the WWE. Their production team is phenomenal. Every video package introduction to a PPV and prior to a match is fantastic and really sells everything that's been building up to it. I cannot praise the video packages enough.
I've rambled enough. If you disagree, I more than welcome it, as long as they're intelligent responses that contribute more than one sentence. I'd rather have a discussion than an argument.
