From what I have seen the reason for the sudden Punk hate is actually really strange. The number of people hating Punk now is pretty much the same number of people hating Punk before but when he won the title last Monday a lot of people jumped on his bandwagon and starting being a fan of him . Then those same people realised they simply weren't a fan of him and jump off the bang wagon and felt everyone on WF needed to know it so they had to make a post bitching about him. It can also be down to the fact that haters don't feel the need to spread the hate while Punk isn't doing anything but when he wins the title they have a reason to bitch. I'm personally a fan of Punk and have been since around the time he first came to OVW.

I can't really see myself ever turning on the guy. I respect him. He came into WWE and didn't compromise much for them. He managed to somehow get to keep his character name, his gimmick etc. VERY few get to do that these days when coming in from the indy circuit.

Bandwagon bullsh*t, plain and simple. Sheep have to follow the latest trends . . . . .

if anyone has turned, it is likely because they realize he has no business holding the main wwe title, at least so soon after his debut. i dont call jobbing to william regal and chavo guerrero a couple of times appropriate paying of dues considering he has already been a champion. it is natural for there to be at least some backlash. for the record, i never did, and continue not to, like him.

I've never really had that much of a thing for Punk.

i think what it is, is that people like to think they're superior and more intelligent by having interests that are not incommon with those they don't want to be viewed as. basically, no 13 year old weenie kid that can't type used to have a cm punk sig, and now every other one does.

I gave him a chance when he first started wrestling on WWE TV, but he didn't prove himself to me, therefore I have no time for him. There are better wrestlers than him in the WWE and far superior wrestlers in the rest of the world, than him. What does he have to do, to "prove" himself to you then - consistently putting on great matches, isn't enough for you?.. Like I said before - I'm surprised you would dislike Punk.. I thought you had an eye for talent and an appreciation for great wrestlers - obviously I was wrong..

Just because somebody thinks Punk isn't Main Event material, doesn't mean "that somebody" has retched taste and appreciation. It means he doesn't like Punk's style, which has been said to be great and sloppy at the same time. I myself like Punk, and have for a while, it's just that so many people are "better" than him in my opinion and he is given ample opportunity for a reason I cannot understand.

Honestly, whether or not someone thinks Punk deserves the World Title is purely a matter of opinion. He's a talented guy, and there's no question about that. Was it too soon? Who knows . . . .
The thing is, Punk's cash in and title win was the first truly shocking WWE moment in a long freakin' time, and that's worth everything.

He didn't mention anything about Punk not being main-event material or not liking his style.. he said "I gave him a chance, but he didn't prove himself to me, therefore I have no time for him" - meaning he doesn't see anything in him, full stop.. thus virtually, dismissing his talents completely.. All I'm saying is, I'm surprised at his stance on Punk - because if you know anything about APS, you'd know he has an appreciation for great, skilled wrestlers, which Punk is.. I'm not bashing his taste - I'm saying I'm personally surprised he wouldn't rate and appreciate a huge talent like CM Punk, considering that APS is pretty wrestling savvy..

****DISCLAIMER: The following post is the opinion of Bigtaurus78. None of what is included in this post is intended to be represented as fact. While it should be evident as this is an interent message board, there are those that must be forewarned. Again, this is only an opinion.**** I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I was never a fan of CM Punk and I actually saw him long before ROH when he was wrestling for a promotion called MLW. To me he never stood out. My reason for it is that he suffers from what I call Jericho Syndrome. Jericho Syndrome is basically when a wrestler is physically stuck in this strange limbo where they are too small amongst heavyweights, yet are larger than cruiserweights. Also, they don't really excel at any style of wrestling. They are best decent grapplers, little to no power moves, sloppy high flying, and decent/mediocre but not great mic skills. Jacks of all trades, but not very good at any. Guys in this category include Chris Jericho (naturally), Matt Hardy, Justin Credible, Disco Inferno, Christian Cage, and now CM Punk. Another thing that I dislike about CM Punk is the whole martial arts theme of his moveset. He is not a martial artist. His kicks look sloppy and nothing else in his moveset looks like something a true martial artist would use. Guys like Shamrock, Blackman, Saturn, and Taz pulled the whole martial arts thing off better because they were legit, Punk is not. If he would ditch the kick pads, the taped hands, and stick to actually wrestling, I might find him more watchable than laughable. But getting to the topic at hand, I think the reason why people have turned on him is because they saw him as someone they can relate to. He's not some big, muscular athletic type with Hollowood good looks. He looks like the guy you see working at a Hot Topic or as a mechanic. They were able to relate, until he became successful. Once he became successful, his shortcomings became more apparent under the spotlight. You can't be some average Joe and be taken seriously as a major promotion's top talent. And since he isn't some over-the-top, larger than life character, nor is he anything exciting in the ring, he just doesn't fit where he's at right now. I wish there was a better way to explain it, but in short he is just not that exciting to begin with. In comparison with previous champions, nothing about him stands out. He lacks the charisma, mic skills, a solid moveset, and the look that previous successful champions have had. One thing is liking a wrestler, but when that wrestler is supposed to be the top guy more is expected from them. And when they are still wrestling the same as when they first debuted, they become stale. CM Punk is not the first that this has happened to, he is only the latest.

The answer is simple... he won the title. People on this board change their favorite wrestlers on a weekly basis. Its just one of the many reasons I dont visit the boards as much as i used to

These IWC fans are so fickle, they wanted Punk to win the belt now they hate it. I will never turn on Punk, been a fan of his since I saw him in ROH and TNA in 2003/04.
