This one is awesome.. "I had a 114 degree temperature and the gout".. LOL.. That promo wasn't that great, he messed up quite a few times, I've seen better. Again, he's fluid, but has no identity in the WWE, he had a gimmick to work with in ROH but he has yet to do anything on the mic that would make me say.... OMGZZZZZ HIMS AMAZINGS!!1! All the other top stars the WWE has, have very distinct personalities, I need for someone to explain to me who Punk is because right now he's a mystery to me. He's pretty much average in every field of the business, he's similar to Hardy in that they get over and sell merchandise based on their appearance and not so much what they are capable(or lack of) of doing.

C'mon Slappy, please answer my question of why it is all the top superstars have distinct personalities and Punk doesn't? They all had to develop their characters, I find it difficult to believe that they are restricting Punk from doing what he wants on the mic, especially since JBL among others have said a lot of controversial (insulting) stuff over the years. To me, he just hasn't found an identity yet, and since he's the top guy now at this very moment, he needs to step it up in that department if he wants it to last or get another chance in the future.

He doesn't get a mic - because WWE don't really want him upstaging HHH, HBK, Jericho, Edge, MVP etc.. He wouldn't upstage Jericho, Edge or HBK.

Because they haven't built him up. They let guys like HHH/HBK/Flair go.

Yeah.... not quite. It's kind of tough to "find an identity" when you rarely get to say more than 5 words at a time. The other guys you mentioned all get to cut 5-10 minute long promos on a regular basis. Punk is lucky to get 15 seconds. He barely got 10 seconds on RAW, the night he won the damn title, before he got cut off.

Well, I was planning on starting a series of "WFIGS Fanboy Favorites" and talk about some of the boards favorite workers (Val Venis, Paul London, Kane, Jeff Hardy, etc....) and least favorite (Cena, Jeff Hardy, etc...) but then CM Punk cashed in MITB, pinned a semi-conscious Edge, became WHC and the most talked about guy in wrestling this week. www.URL BLOCKED.com/rare_wwe_photos/cmpunk-mariakannelis02.jpg [/img] (I pick this picture because it shows the lovely Maria as well. Punk is a fool.) Why the buzz? - Did you not pay attention to the intro? He cashed in MITB, pinned an already beaten Edge and became WHC. Later on he defended the title successfully against JBL (with a little help from John Cena and Cryme Time). Titles - ECW Title, World Heavyweight Championship Gimmick - Straight edge. Possibly one of the lamer gimmicks IMO. It's great that Punk doesn't take drugs, smoke or drink, but it just doesn't seem that marketable a gimmick under normal circumstances. With the drug and steroid scandals in the news lately though, it's a perfect gimmick for the times and no doubt part of the reason why he's being pushed. Ringwork - I'm gonna get bashed for this but so be it. Granted, I'm not a hardcore Punk fan who has followed him since his indy days but I've seen a lot of his work in the WWE. I think he is a solid worker, but nothing stands out as being amazing. I don't see Punk in the ring and say, "That is possibly the best mat wrestler/flyer/brawler/etc... I've ever seen." He definitely doesn't suck, but doesn't really stand out either. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give him about a 7. He's solid, but doesn't seem to excel in any particular area.Mic work - I find him very, very, very average on the mic. From the promos I've seen in the WWE and a few of his indy promos I found on Youtube I just don't see him as very charismatic on the mic. He holds his own, but nothing more. I'm afraid he would look very bad against some of the more skilled mic workers in the WWE (Jericho, HBK among others.) Charisma - I give Punk this, he does have the "it" factor a lot of guys lack. He connects well with the fans and they enjoy cheering him or booing him whatever the case may be. It's easy to see why he's so over with the fans. Backstage - I've heard rumors of backstage heat on Punk, but I'm kind of doubting it. The WWE is taking a great, big, huge, gigantic risk by putting the belt on him and I don't see them doing that if there's that much heat on the guy. Punk has been given his chance to fly here. If he fails (and he might) it will be a long, long time before he gets a sniff again. If he succeeds he'll likely be a fixture in the main event for years to come.
You were too kind in the wrestling part of it, I think he's a crap wrestler lol, thats just my opinion. Very fair review.

Punk is talented but he really does need to step up his game in a number of areas if he wants to prove to all the naysayers that he belongs in the main event.
