I'm really not sure if this should be in an official thread as it's really about A LOT of various things so I don't think so....
A lot of change seems to be coming to WWE, and a lot of confusion is stirring with the Draft and belts switching brands, etc.
It's no secret that ECW got pretty roughed up in the draft. They still have some talent, most notably Hardy, Morrison, & Finlay. But when you look at it as a whole, it just doesn't seem like enough to constitute its' own entity. There aren't enough surrounding pieces for the above 3. Mark Henry, Mike Knox, & The Miz is NOT enough to carry a brand.
I heard a while back that USA wants Raw to become three hours and WWE was considering it. Which is why I see ECW getting a name changed and becoming a sub-"division" of Raw. Not quite like Heat, but a bit more of a balanced show with lots of talent featured. It'll essentially be the third hour of Raw per week, only on a different network( Sci Fi) and maybe not featuring AS much talent. In storyline, Teddy Long is getting back at Vickie Guerrero with the merge.
Because of this, the ECW World Title is retired after Kane retains on Sunday. Matt Hardy retains the United States Title, and so it becomes the secondary title of Raw/" the brand formerly know as ECW". ( John Cena also wins on Sunday, making the WWE Title the main championship). The U.S. Title replaces the IC Title on Raw, and the Intercontinental Title, which hasn't even been seen in weeks, is retired.
Without a midcard championship for its' new talent like Shelton & Carlito, Vickie creates a new title, the proposed " X Division" title we heard about a few months back. A no-weight-limit belt for the high-flyers & midcard talent of Smackdown. It'll give Smackdown an edgier look for its' move to MyNetworkTV.
Meanwhile Ted DiBiase's partner ends up being either DH Smith/Carlito from Smackdown. Cody Rhodes turns on Holly, and they all defect to Smackdown with the World Tag Titles, forming the new-generation stable. Shelton & MVP both turn face( or just MVP & Kennedy) to battle the " New Breed". SD regains a Tag Team Championship, and Morrison/Miz defend the WWE Tag Titles on the other " two" brands.
So basically it looks like:
Smackdown- World Title, X Division Title( not called that), World Tag Titles, Divas Title
Raw/Show formerly called ECW- WWE Title, U.S. Title, WWE Tag Titles, Womens Title
and...that's it. Not as long as I thought it would be.
