Hey,
I just recently picked up the WrestleMania XXIV 3-disc set and finished watching The Hall of fame portion and just wanted to post my thoughts.
I am not going to go through all of them, only a select few. More specific, Ric Flair and The Rock. I'll start with The Rock.
Man, his speech was ing classic. Just classic. I can't remember the last time when I laughed my ass off like that when it had to do with wrestling...It's been SO damn long!!
His awesome speech just reminded me of how great he truly is and how much I miss his presence in wrestling today. Clearly one of the best on the mic ever. He knows exactly how to work a crowd, I'll say that much.
He trashed Jericho by talking about his hair, made fun of Foley with the sock, talked about 1-more match with Stone Cold and then when he got to Cena, I nearly busted a gut. That was ing awesome!! ;D
The crowd's chants were awesome as well. From "Please come back", to "No More Movies", to "Please Stay Away" and on and on. The Rock was eating it all up.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that segment with The Rock. It's been far too long since I enjoyed something like that in wrestling, especially these days when it's so reptitive, boring and stale.
Now, onto Flair's speech. There was one part where he just had to take the low-road and go out of his way and take a dig at The Rock, by talking about Cena and saying "Cena will never take off and leave for Hollywood".
You know what? I certainly hope that's true. I hope Cena doesn't leave for Hollywood because he can't act and his movies ing suck. It'll save us the pain and misery of seeing one of his God-awful movies again.
So, I hope Cena stays in the WWE and does what he's some-what good at, and that is wrestling. Cena is a great entertainer, there's no denying that. Wrestling however, leaves something to be desired...
Anyways, those are just some of my thoughts on The Rock's and Ric Flair's Hall of Fame speeches.
For those that haven't seen them yet, please do yourself a HUGE favor and buy the DVD set or Blu-Ray today. You'll be thanking me later.
