It seems like the majority of wrestlers are at their best playing the heel... Triple H, JBL, Orton, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Batista, Kennedy, and Edge for example. This is because when a face turn occurs attitude and intensity is usually replaced by good humor and sportsmanship. The character becomes a watered down, friendlier, less interesting version of his heel counterpart... other times, like with Orton and Kennedy, heel mannerisms shine through face actions, making it look forced.
Other guys can work as a heel or face and make them both work pretty equally... Austin, Rock, Angle, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker spring to mind here.
Now my question... what wrestler makes for a better face than a heel? Now you can answer this question in two ways. First, what wrestler has so much love as a face that it overrides any desire to turn him heel? Second, who lacks the acting ability to make for a better heel?
For the first category...
Eddie Guerrero - He was an amazing heel, but the love Eddie got as a face I don't think could be easily duplicated. His "lie, cheat, steal" gimmick, the low rider, and his care free personality got him over huge as the good guy.
RVD - Obviously his laid back personality, weed references, and unique style made him the "cool" guy, and therefore made him superior face.
Second category...
Bobby Lashley - Without a manager, there is no way he could get over heel like he did face as the soft-spoken black Superman.
Jeff Hardy - Between his strong fanbase and great lack of mic/acting skills, Hardy is at the top of his game as the crowd pleasing hero.

I personally preferred Kurt Angle as a face. I loved him when he battled against the Alliance in '01, and turned face after winning the World Title in '06.

Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero and RVD are all better as faces, no doubt about it.

Also guys that can work Heel or Face would be Kane and The Big Show Kane is 10 x better heel, but i prefer Big Show face. And HBK USED to be able to pull off the heel/face change easily, but now he's one of the most beloved superstars on the roster and he'd have to kill someone to get over as a heel again.
