The way I see it, is that the Rock didn't really sell out. See when he was a young man he wanted to do football but couldnt due to injuries or whatever, so cut his losses and decided to give wrestling - his family's legacy a shot. It was never his first love. Sure it might have been in his blood but passion wise it wasn't something he had to do right away. Wrestling was a backup plan for a failed football career. He came in worked his way up, got a major rub off his name and family legacy and with his huge personality became a big star that luckily for him was able to surpass wrestling and transition into other oppprtunities. It doesn't make him a bad guy for wanting to do other things and be in better health and financially more secure. What it does make him is a great entertainer but mediocre- passable wrestler with a nice list of accolades and accomplishments. So he had his stay which was fairly lengthy accomplished all he could and left. Let's be honest... he is no Angle, Benoit, Michaels or Guerrero in terms of being a technician. He's not a Foley or Flair or even Dreamer in terms of dedication to the sport. Those guys have or had a passion for the business. They idolized their childhood heroes or were born into it and took up the mantle and strived to be the best rather than just fall back on it. Guys like Hogan, Piper, Funk all made movies but came back to wrestling and were still successful because they knew what made them in the first place. In closing I dont wanna see him wrestle Cena or Triple H etc. but he should still at least seem thankful for the people that gave him a stage to basically do whatever he could and make a crap load of money and fans that will still buy Smackdown games, shirts and action figures that feature his likeness. A likeness that is there because the company that gave him his shot at stardom is still promoting him even though he cant be bothered to come around a couple of times a year to say hi or help the younger guys learn. No the Rock did not sell out, but he did turn his back on those that helped make him what he is. Flair as he retired thanked everyone who helped make him what he is today. I find that very touching and a beautiful way to end things and move on. The Rock should give the proper thanks
