I think he had definitely sold out. Unlike many of you, I never really LOVED The Rock. He had good mic skills and was decent in the ring, but I never understood why he's always mentioned with the greats of wrestling as I think he definitely isn't anywhere near the top. Anyway, wrestling MADE Rock famous. He wouldnt have had the door to movies without the exposure from the WWE. I have no problem with him choosing to do moves ... hell, it's smarter, it makes more money and he doesnt have to kill himself physically. However, he seems to almost be embarassed of wrestling and never acknowledges it, doesnt really support it or do anything to give back to what made him. He never does appearances and tries to stay as distant as he can. Wrestling made him and he should quit trying to act like it never happened. I am fine with him being an actor and not wrestling anymore, but he should give a little more back because he has what he has largely because of the WWE. Exactly what I was gonna say.

The Rock didn't sell out but can you blame him? If he was still with WWE he'd be jobbing to Triple H.

Anyone ever notice the ones that say the rock DIDNT sell out are the ones who had him as their top favorite?? Simply put Yes, Dwayne sold out. He didnt go into acting to keep his body in shape. If he did he wouldnt have asked to do his own stunts. He went into cause its less work for more money. Do I hate him for it? No, I hated him when he was a wrestler, but if you dont want to be a wrestler anymore then dont pop up on my WWE screen and dont put your name as "The Rock" on any of your movies. Stay in Hollywood and going by the name Dwayne Johnson and keep releasing your B rated movies cause lord know Doom, Get Smart, Rundown and Walking Tall made you as much money as Main Eventing Wrestlemania

Only in wrestling do the fans consider it "selling out" to make more money and put up with less traveling. The Rock didn't sell out. He did what he felt was beneficial to him. Honestly, if you had the choice of putting your body through hell night in and night out, traveling insane distances in a short amount of time, putting with up with politics or making a movie, getting more exposure and making more money, none of you wouldn't go into Hollywood? BULLcrap! The Rock did what he had to do and I don't blame him. Do I wish he would come back? Hell yes, do I consider him a sell out? No I don't.

The Rock moved on. He never solded out. He had nothing else todo in the WWE. He had done it all, if he stuck around he'd of got stale... aka Mick Foley or... hell even Stone Cold... Whos really excited or suprised when Austin makes an appereance anymore? Or even Hogan!

Nah he wanted a change...cant blame someone for doing that. I think he wants to move away from it, but he hasnt forgotten where he has come from. In interviews he acknowledges the WWE and his wrestling career. He was awesome as a wrestler and he aint too bad as an actor. So fair enough go with it!

He did everything he could do in the WWE, and wanted to move on

No. Of course he didn't sell out. The Rock found a better career where he doesn't have to kill his body and be on the road away from his family for 300 days out of the year. How can anyone possibly hate on him for choosing another career? He's shown that he's a smart and talented guy who can have success in other areas that don't take such a toll on him physically. I can guarantee tons of wrestlers would switch places with him if they had the chance.
You also have to take into account how terrible wrestling is right now. Maybe if the product and the ratings were better and the WWE wasn't in the spotlight now more than ever about steroid use, he'd consider making an appearance now and then. But it's clear that he has no interest in being involved with wrestling altogether right now and, frankly, I don't blame him one bit.
Think about this, too: when The Rock appeared at the Hall Of Fame and stole thunder away from Ric Flair and Triple H, they both took cheap shots at him when they were on stage. Why would he want to come back and get involved in all of that crap, too?
I'd like The Rock to make an appearance now and then just as much as the next guy, but I understand why he wants to stay away from wrestling. In addition to him wanting to focus on being taken seriously as an actor, you all would also be complaining about how stale he'd be if he appeared as much as Austin, Foley, etc. and did the same thing every single time. It's probably just for the best he stays away altogether.

Originally I would of been the first guy to ever call The Rock a sell out, now I am older and more mature, and in my opinion, no.
People say The Rock owes a lot to the WWE, well The Rock did as much for the 'E' as they did for him, he worked a hell of a lot and had the skill to get where he was, and made his name, made his money, and is happy leaving the WWE. And I am happy for him.
He has done all that he has done, and now has found something else to be passionate about, the WWE crap on The Rock by no resigning him, so I don't blame him for going, besides as a human being I am sure The Rock is doesn't want to be bothered by the WWE now, he has done with that part of his life, and sure he wants to move on, it's just a bunch of stubborn moronic idiots who bitch and complain, because they either need something complain about, or still one to hang to every last bit of the Attitude era and are to afraid to move on.

I believe he did, but I think the way he thinks of it is, if his movie career goes south, or if he doesn't want to do movies anymore, at least he would have something to fall back on.

Sell out? definatly not. The Rock moved on because he had already accomplished everything in wrestling at that time. As an actor he has new challenges/goals, plus it is a much safer profession, you aren't on the road most of the year and as another bonus he is making more money.
The worst part is the same people that say he did sell out are the same people that would be complaining saying he is stale had he stayed with wrestling so there is no pleasing most people.
The Rock picked the right time to move on and I wish others would do the same.

Yeah. I mean I'm still a fan, but you can tell he's all Hollywood now. He completely dropped 'The Rock' off of his name recently, you can tell he doesn't wanna be involved with wrestling, and doesn't say that the only reason he's in Hollywood right now is because of WWE.

do you blame him, with all the steroid scandals and stuff. that would hinder his career as a actor now.

No, it's ludicrous. I liked being a bagboy at Winn-Dixie when I was 16, and it's where I got my start. But eventually I left. I don't think that is selling out. He left something he loved to do something else he loved, that also won't cripple him. The Rock doesn't owe anyone anything, and to think he ought to sacrifice his career to stay in wrestling is completley moronic. The Rock is one of my all-time favorites, and I miss him terribly, but I am very happy for him, and support his decision to leave 100%. Dude, you took the words right out of my mouth lol.

So what if he sold out? You people bitch about the dumbest crap. Its his life and if he wanted to be strictly Hollywood good for him. The thing I find funny is a few people who are calling him a sellout are no older than 15. Its called moving on and thats what hes done. Besides had he stayed you people would bitch "Im getting tired of the Rock. He always does the same crap."

Hell I don't even think Brad Pitt has won one. Arnold never won one.
