Putting shaving cream on a replica belt?

Guy reckons he's got an adult belt and put Gillette shaving cream on the strap, left it in the sun for a few minutes, cleaned it off and it gave the strap that effect.


Anyone ever tried this or know anything about it?

That doesn't sound right to me at all & seeing that replica belts are a good $200 a title, I would not risk it either.

What he doesn't realize is that you don't need shaving cream.

If you put your simulated leather strap out in the sun for a few minutes it will loosen up. However, once it cools down it goes back to being stiff....there is no substance or trick to making simulated leather straps become soft like real leather because the fake straps have cardboard in the center.

So really he put shaving cream on his belt for no reason.

Considering that replicas have thin carboard inside of the strap part, which makes the titles stiffer... I doubt shaving cream has any real effect to it.

Off topic (kinda) Im not sure i believe this cardboard myth. I mean.. why would they bother their asses doing that?


Also, can anyone tell me the difference between an adult and deluxe replica belt? (i know what the technical difference is, but i mean from a personal stand-point, is tehre a noticeable difference?)

It doesn't work at all. What I did to my custom Undisputed WWE Belt was remove the plates and bend and fold every inch of the strap. It softens it up a little and creates a "ring-used" look, but it takes some time to do it.

because its a very cheap material that can be easily reproduced. The 'fake' leather wouldn't be strong enough to keep shape without the inside posing as a backbone. They make maximum profit when they use the cheapest material.

Take off the plates and rick roll it both ways. The only difference between the replica and the deluxe replica is the belt strap. They all have the exact same plates, so if you can find just the deluxe strap by itself buy it and change the plates. This usually saves a hundred or 2

Yaeh, adult and deluxe belts have the same plates. The only difference is the deluxe belts have a "higher quality" of fake leather strap. They call it "real leather" but really it's still fake but it's better.

And like I said, you don't need shaving cream. If you put your adult replica out in the sun for 5 minutes the strap will loosen up, but once it's out of the sun it will stiffen up again. There is NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY LOOSEN UP A SIMULATED LEATHER STRAP.

The strap gets exactly like that when its left out in the heat. When I BYW'ed, our belts were very flexible like that in the summer heat

Way to jump in there . . . . when the answer was given a mere 2 posts above you.

The bottom line is this: the cardboard "myth" is not a myth at all. Simulated leather straps will never permanently soften. The only way to have a floppy leather strap on your replica belt is to have it re-leathered. Even the real leather straps on the ultra deluxe replicas aren't as soft as the ones guys like Millican make.
