Alright, so this is my first of a possible review series I am thinking of doing. First topic, one we can always agree/argue about, John Cena.
Alright. So John Cena. What can you say about the man? Some people say he's a horrible wrestler, horrible on the mic, just horrible overall. My opinion on him, is a few different perspectives.
1.John Cena, is a good wrestler. Now, before you go and bash my opinion, look at what I have to say. Go back and watch John Cena in 2003-2005. Cena could have a great match. He also knew how to have good hardcore matches, ala vs. Eddie Guerrero(Parking Lot Brawl), ala vs. JBL(I Quit match). Cena can go, he had great matches even in 06 and 07 with the likes of Edge, Umaga, Orton, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, etc. Cena can wrestle. Some people don't realize that his 5 moves of doom, are not all he can do. People have yet to realize that he is booked this way, he is told to go out there and do the 5 moves of doom, and he is held back from doing more.
2.Cena, isn't that horrible on the mic. Go back and watch him as his rapper gimmick back in like the 2003-2005 era, once again. Cena was bringing out some very nice freestyles, and bran comedy to each and every Smackdown/PPV he appeared on. Especially when Cena was a heel, he could cut good promos. His promos slip nowadays, I see that. He does need to improve on some of the promos he cuts in WWE now, and maybe WWE tells him what to say, but he can still add something to them.
3.People complaining about Cena being shoved down your throat, I semi agree with this statement. I have been accused of saying this before, and recently, earlier this year. This is usually the number one complaint IMO on why people hate Cena. The point is, I will say, I feel he was a little shoved down our throats for about 2 1/2 years. He held the title 2/3's of that time, and was winning every match he appeared in, PPV wise. Now, while he was being pushed a little too much, he was drawing, and he was the main man in the business, and he was being utilized. Now, you can't really say Cena is being shoved down our throats anymore, because aside from the fact he returned, and had us all, Cena fans and haters alike, shocked and surprised, he hasn't really done anything else this year to really talk about. He didn't win at NWO, he didn't win at Mania like we had seen for the last 2 years before, and he didn't win at Backlash, and right now, he is nowhere near the main event scene or for that matter, RAW period.
Overall, Cena is a decent wrestler with decent promo skills. I wouldn't say he is one of the best to enter the ring, wrestling skill wise, but he definitely is nowhere near the worst. Is he the modern day Hogan? He was in a way, but I don't think we will ever really have another wrestler that could really propel wrestling into stardom like Hogan did. No doubt he sells tickets, no doubt he sells merchandise, and no doubt, Vince sees this and takes advantage of it. Cena isn't horrible. Give him a chance, because whether you want to believe it or not, Cena probably could change your opinion on him.
I ask if you reply to this, don't come in saying, all wrong, Cena sucks. At least try and leave a reply that makes you seem like you're not a 12 year old kid trying to act like a smark. Leave your honest opinion, but do it in a mature mater.
