I've never cried when a wrestler died, if you do then you feel way too connected to someone you don't know personally, unless you actually do know them

I've never cried when a wrestler died, if you do then you feel way too connected to someone you don't know personally, unless you actually do know them It's just the fact of watching the person for many years and coming to like them. Then they die and you know you will never see them again.

I remember the day Benoit died like it was yesterday. I was just sitting on my cpu, listening to some music, and just chilling out, when I got an im from somebody I was in an efed with at the time. Now, me thinking, what the hell is he talking about, was just like, huh, and like no he's not and he told me to check WWE.com. So I went on there, and found out he in fact had passed away, but because of the Vince McMahon storyline at the time, it was hard to think it was real. So me and my mom and brother called up the Atlanta FOX station and they told us it was real and the police are investigating. At this time, I really wasn't hit too hard, but trying to type on my computer was hard because I was shaking and was kinda of shooken mentally. It really set in when they aired the tribute show, and as soon as the Royal Rumble footage came on, I lost it. Just remembering being in the stands and going nuts when he won, it really hit me that wow, one of my favorites and a great wrestler is gone. I probably cried on and off the rest of that episode, and just seeing his image with date of birth/death on it at the end just was like, wow, this isn't happening. The days after it, me and a few of my buddies were just in denial for so long about him killing his family. and to be quite honest, Benoit's death was the only time I have ever considered giving up wrestling, because of what he did and the name he made for wrestling, and just the overwhelming fact that I'd get ridiculed for liking it.
I've always kind of found it strange though, how we connect with these guys like they are our own family. I never thought I'd be hit hard by someone I don't even knows death, but I honestly was, and it's just some weird connection fans have with these guys. It's hard to describe.

Eddie's and benoit's was the hardest for me...being a kid from the 90's you grew up with eddie and chris on your tv. Eddies i found out when i came on this site and saw a official eddie memorial thread and i was like o no. when watching the tribute i had tears in my eyes but nothing crazy...
benoits will affect me diffrently because since i've been a fan i've never missed a memorial show for a wrestler...so while waiting to go home from work my mother breaks the news like this "I don't know how to tell you this (knowing benoit was one of my idols at the time) but chris benoit and his family died". i rushed home to tune in to the triple threat at mania and then the ending just killed me because those were 2 idols of mine i will never see again...

Benoit was the worst for me. Not exactly that he died, but that he died the way he did. I watched him growing up, he was one of my top 5 favs. in the WCW and I stopped watching offically when he left. It was just so hard.
It's even harder to still be a fan of the guy when everyone bashes him. I mean he could have gone out any way. Suicide, Drug overdose, he could have done anything to himself and I'd still be a fan. But when he takes the life of others, its hard.

Screw wrestlers dying, when it comes to a dying subject. One day I am going to die, and it's going to be ing crazy! Yeah but millions of people won't care when you or any of us die. Between that and the Eddie subject, I'm just gonna go cry, watch some T.V., and eat some cookie dough.

The first one for me was Brian Pillman. He was a big favorite of mine, and the news hit so suddenly. For weeks after, and even now every so often, I feel like I see him every once in a while.
The other big one for me was Curt Hennig. My top three heroes in wrestling will always be Piper, Flair, and Hennig. So when I saw the "In Memory" graphic on Raw that night, my excitement for watching the show flew right out the window. I did shed a few tears, only because he was a childhood idol.

Eddie's death really hit me bad. I remember watching his tribute video with Hurt playing as the song, I start crying. It was really sad. Same here, My feelings for wrestling changed all around. I'm not to fond of wrestling that much anymore but I still go here to check what's new and stuff.
