....opponent?
I mean, whether you are or are not a fan. Were one or see yourself becoming one. You gotta have at one time enjoyed matches or a feud he has had with some individual.
If you don't, I can't say you've been watching his career to closely for more than 2 years. But that's beside the point, the question is who do you feel is Triple H's greatest in ring rival?
I'm gonna say Mick Foley. Because Mick and his many personalities never fit the role of a World champion but the battle he and Triple H have had define intensity and passion.
I mean I can think of at least 2 great one on ones they have had, NWO Hell in a Cell and the Royal Rumble Street Fight.
But ever excluding those two I think of Hunter's first world title win coming from beating Foley. I think if anyone has had some role in the Cerebal Assassin becoming the remorseless in ring competitor he is today, it is definitely Miss Foley's baby boy.

He said HBK was the greatest wrestler he'd ever stepped foot in the ring with.

He said HBK was the greatest wrestler he'd ever stepped foot in the ring with. The question wasn't though "Who do you think Triple H feels was the great..." but more so in your view. If you agree, that's fine too. Just more so about preference and I wouldn't say Michaels, in my case, having seen the heated feuds with The Rock, and even Big Show, among others.

Yeah, I loved the Foley/Triple H feud. But I'm going to go with Shawn Michaels too.
It wasn't just some short feud, it lasted close to 4 years, on and off. They had some glorious matches, and Shawn played his "arch rival" well.

Foley and Taker for me, the Foley feud was just the best ever, (MVP/Hardy really could have stolen it but then the layoff has dampened that quite a bit for me), but his matches against Foley in 99/00 were some of the greatest moments in the history of wrestling. Taker hasn't had many matches against the Game recently but i really enjoyed their match at Mania X7 and the feud of The Power Trip vs Brothers Of Destruction was another killa feud, i hope Taker and Tripper get it on very very soon, Taker to Raw or Trips to SD would be ace, Tripper is never touching SD ever again tho .

I think all of the major players (i.e. Austin, Rock, Foley, Taker, HBK) could pull off very good to great matches with Triple H, but the best opponents for him that stick out in my mind would be:
The Rock during the DX vs. NOD days. Austin and Foley during 2000. Undertaker in 2001. HBK's return feud in 2002.

I'd have to see either Foley, Jericho, or the Rock.

Shawn Michaels. Everytime they have put a match on together, it's been great.

I think Foley made HHH a legitimate main eventer back when people doubted HHH can headline, but that's just me.

I'd probably say Austin. They were such heated rivals in 2000/01, and had an incredible 40-minute match at No Way Out that year.
Foley & HBK were also great. Credit to Benoit as well, who happened to defeat Tripster every single time from like 2004 on...which was like 6-7 victories..

Mick Foley. If it wasn't for the amazing matches they had, Triple H wouldn't have been a very good champ.

I gotta say Foley as well. At the time they were still playing the multiple personalities angle up, so eventually he just snapped and Cactus Jack took over, which made for some damn good matches.

Shawn Michaels. Everytime they have put a match on together, it's been great. I don't think the Royal Rumble '04 Last Man Standing match was that good, personally. I'd go with Foley, with Michaels in second.

The whole HBK 2002-2006 feud was probably one of the greatest feuds of all time.
HHH/Foley was great
His recent feud with Orton is pretty entertaining too.
