SWA SUPERSTARS AND SOMEBODIES MEGASHOW! LIVE ON PPV!
Live from Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Trace Demon defeats TriPod. The fans were clearly on TriPod's side in this, even though he is not a traditional fan favorite. Unfortunately, the two really didn't click in the ring, and with this being such a big scale, it was intensified. Demon worked hard in this, and put away TriPod with the Anarchy Crash. (C) (15:05)
Assassin defeats Dean Marcus. If these last two were a sign of what Assassin and Demon are capable of, look out SWA. This was a very good match, not a great match, but a perfectly decent undercard showdown. Marcus has overcome some big obstacles the last few weeks, but Assassin is a giant man, and was too much to overcome. A Dragon's Way put and end to the match. (C+) (14:42)
Joe Gilmore defeats Devin Curtis. Much like the opening match, these two just did not click, despite having a controversy marred match earlier in the tour which lead to this. It appeared to be the "fault" of Gilmore, who was having a particularly bad night. Unfortunately for Curtis, being off wasn't enough to cost Diamond Joe the match, as he hit the Diamond Driver(damn near broke Curtis' neck in the process) for the pin. (C-) (15:46)
Evan Pagano defeats Jake Richards. Another off night. Nerves HAVE to be an issue at an event this size. Richards tried hard, but this was yet another match where the person the crowd did not want to win came out on top. Pagano hit a Futures Calling and it was all she wrote for Richards. (C-) (15:32)
A video played showing Punk's trip through the World Title Tournament, including his win over Gunz, and his first defense. Gunz beating TriPod to win the title shot was also shown, as well as the finish when Punk pinned Gunz the previous week. (B-)
SWA World Title: Korey Gunz defeats Nikollaj Punk. This was one of the co-main events, and it SHOWED. What a huge jump in quality compared to the previous work. These two have worked back and forth throughout the tour and they've always been good matches, but this just brought it up a notch. Punk hit a Nikollaj Driver and was sure he had the victory, but took too long to celebrate, and could not get the pin. He went for a second, but Gunz countered it, and turned him around and hit the Affliction for the pin and the title! (B-) (44:56) (MOTN - tie)
A video was now shown overviewing the Ricky Williams vs. Michael Edwards feud. From the initial main event going to a draw, to Edwards and Pagano injuring Williams, Williams coming out injured to defeat Edwards impromptly in the title tournament, Edwards making Williams wrestle his protoge, Sanchez, and then cut to the cage these two will be doing war in in a matter of minutes. (B)
Cage Match: Michael Edwards defeats Ricky Williams. Another great match, although anyone whose seen these two in the ring at the same time shouldn't be surprised. The rules of the match were simple... you can escape, you can pin your opponent, or you can make them submit. These two made sure to use the cage to it's advantage. Williams was bloody early after Edwards scraped his face with the steel cage. Williams responded by, on the apron, giving Edwards a modified Backdrop Driver into the cage itself. The move ended up tying up the Future in the cage and ring ropes, and with Duan Sanchez Jnr. down at ringside, opening up the cage for Williams, he encouraged him to come out... As Williams did, Sanchez turned on him, knocking him down and not allowing him to leave... he then slammed the door right on his head! He slides a steel chair in to Edwards, and Edwards hits a Future Driver on the chair, which had been unfolded in the middle of the ring. Edwards then made the pinfall, and celebrated with Sanchez and Evan Pagano. (B-) (44:39) (MOTN - tie)
