World Wrestling Entertainment 25th annual Wrestlemania event will take place on Sunday 4/5/09 in Houston, Texas at the Reliant Stadium, which lists a capacity of 71,500 for football and should hold far more for WWE's flagship PPV event of 2009.
WWE held Wrestlemania X7 in Houston's Astrodome in 2001. That event, considered by many to be one of the best top to bottom produced events in company history, was headlined by Steve Austin winning the WWF championship from The Rock in the main event.
For more background information about Reliant Stadium, which opened in 2002 and is the first football stadium to have a retractable roof, click here.

Nice. I love that they're continuing the big arena trend.

If I don't go to Louisiana for Mardi Gras and to visit family next year, i'll be at WrestleMania XXV for sure.

If it is truly official, I will definitely be headed to Houston for WrestleMania XXV. If it is on that date, double bonus for me as I'd still be able to (hopefully) go to the home opener at the new Yankee Stadium as well, depending on the Yankees' home opener being on Opening Night '09 the week before 'Mania.

I think it'll be another 5 or 10 years before i see another Wrestlemania live, my first being in 1998. Houston's Reliant Stadium has been talked about for the last few years as a really good choice to host a WM, so I'm glad it's finally going to be held there. My question is.. have other Wrestlemania locations in the past been confirmed before the actual "video" that they air on the PPV itself, advertising where it's going to be for the next year? This is the first as far as I know. Still happy, though.

Why isnt it the Astrodome anymore? Because Reliant Stadium is alot nicer and was built in place of the astrodome.. it is actually right next to it.
