Hey guys. I'm back w/ the the BCA nastolgia! Again, all of these pics I took from my own collection so forgive and blurriness and glare that some pics may have.
WWF SUPERSTARS SERIES ONE
Review: This is it, the beginning of the BCAs and JAKKS’ brand of WWF figures. This first series featured 6 figures and the figures are around 6” with moveable arms and legs. It featured “Bone Crunchin’ Action” which meant if you bent the joints on the figures legs or arms, you’d hear a sound effect that sounded like bones cracking. It was a cool concept and this line began the most detailed style of wrestling figure yet.
Undertaker: Very cool figure. Along with all of the other figures, the parts were molded just for the Undertaker. Now, I know many of you are saying this is the debut series so … DUH, but even in the first RA and TTL series’ we saw the same parts used throughout all of the different wrestlers. The attire is spot on with tie and removable hat accessory. The only thing disappointing is lack of tattoos on the arms, but otherwise it’s a perfect figure. The glove and boot detail is awesome even down to the little buttons on the boots.
Razor Ramon: The attire looks great even though it’s not too accurate, and there is a lot of detail in the chest area, with all of the chains and so on. I never liked molded-on entrance attire, but it did look cool. The facemold is awesome w/ the toothpick and 5 o’ clock shadow. One of only two BCA Razor figures we’d ever see.
Diesel: Great figure. They, again, molded the attire perfect down to the detailing on the torso and the tassles on the side of the legs. The “DIESEL” logo looked great and they even got the one glove on the pumpin’ hand right. This figure would end up being re-released in 1997 and a similar Diesel was in a 2-pack w/ Razor. These would be the only three Diesel BCA figs we saw. Very cool figure.
Goldust: I love this figure! The paintjob looks awesome w/ the metallic silver and gold. Again with an all unique mold and very cool little details on the gloves, facepaint, etc. Figure also comes with a removable wig. A very visually cool figure.
Shawn Michaels: The first ever HBK fig by any company featuring his broken heart attire. It’s based off the Summerslam 95’ ladder match w/ Razor. Has a unique boot mold which were pretty accurate to HBKs boots. The tights look sort of sloppy and hand-drawn, but at the time I marked out for it. The headmold is pretty cool and even includes the earrings HBK used to wear. All around cool figure.
Bret Hart: I think this is the best of the set, accuracy-wise. The detailing on the side of the legs is pretty exact and the logo on the chest is also exact. The headmold actually looks really good, to me, just as good as the current CS molds they use. The molded-on glasses were kind of strange, but I dig it. All around a perfect BCA figure, accurate and detailed.
WWF FAMILY FEUD 2-PACK
Review: This was and is an extremely rare pack, maybe the most rare BCA 2-pack alongside the Razor/Diesel pack. It features versions of Bret and Owen that would never be released again in BCA form and is a favorite of mine since it is the only time we’ve ever gotten an Owen/Bret pack to this day. Hopefully that changes someday and we get a CS Bret/Owen pack.
Bret Hart: This is a one-of-a-kind BCA Bret. The only Bret in BCA form to have a fully pink attire. As with all BCA Bret’s, the attires are very well done and look neat w/ no sloppiness. A great figure all around.
Owen Hart: Another one-of-a-kind Owen. It featured a variation of the Superstars Series 2 Owen w/ SLAMMY AWARD WINNER on the thighs rather than ROCKET, but not the same SLAMMY logo as the Championship pack or any other Owen figure made after. The Owen fig also looked great. Even the detail on the boots and knee pads were exact.
Hope all of you dug that trip down memory lane and for new collectors, I hope you dig these old figs. Fortunately, a lot of these old BCA's are easy to find for cheap prices on eBay and various websites nowadays, but who knows when the value of these will shoot back up. As usual, I look forward to your guys' comments!
