Odium RP: "Sitting in This Room"

[Almost Like Flacco]

We see Shields sitting on an old couch in the living room of his home in the suberbs. He is wearing his trademark black attire and his hair is unkempt and unwashed. He is watching TV but the screen is out of view. He is gripping the remote control so tightly that it is about to bust. A look of anger and discomfort swipes over his face as he furiously punches the "rewind" and "play" buttons. Shields continuously presses the buttons as he shakes his head in agony of what he sees on the screen. He begins speaking with an angry tone to his voice.

As you can plainly see, I've been studying some tapes since SuperBrawl. I've been watching some of my matches from the House Show circuit as well as some of my matches here at Odium. The single video that I have watched more than ever is my match at SuperBrawl. I've pinpointed the moment in the match when it all went downhill. I have gone over that spot over and over and I now know how to prevent it from happening again. There's just one thing I need to do, and that is try it out in the ring. That's precisely what I plan on doing tonight on Odium.

He hits the "off" button on the remote and slams the remote down on the table. He still stairs at the blank TV screen.

Tonight, I am going to earn my third shot at the WFWF Internet Title. You know what, why don't they just give me the freakin' belt and save the reputations of four other wrestlers. Incase you are really slow in the head, I said four because I'm facing three guys in the match tonight and then the match against the Internet champion. I've got a very quick way to summarize all three of my opponents tonight, and that is that I've never heard of them so I don't care about them. The best mindset to have when going into a match is to not care about who you're going into the match against. That way, you feel no remorse when you beat the hell out of them.

Shields stands up from the couch and walks over to the curtains on the other side of the room and shuts them. A blanket of cold darkness sweeps over the room. Shields walks back over to the couch and jumps over the back and onto his seat. Dust flies up into the air as he falls onto the couch.

Where was I? Oh yes, I was talking about my opponents. Well, I wouldn't call the "opponents", more like "minor inconveniences". I don't think I should be getting too high on myself though.

Pauses.

Wait, what am I thinking?

Shields slaps himself and shakes his head.

I'm the greatest wrestler in WFWF today, I have every right to get high on myself. Wait, I got off track again. I think all these falls are finally taking a toll on my brain. My opponents...who are they again?

He picks up a folded piece of notebook paper off the floor and reads it.

Quan Chin, Thunder, and Brady Cool.

He crumples the paper and throws it back behind him. He chuckles softly to himself.

Wow, I have to face those guys? Is this some kind of a joke? I thought only actual skilled wrestlers were able to contend for titles here but, from the looks of it, I'm the only one with talent around here. Who is this Quan Chin guy, some kind of Japanese Monk/Ninja?

He makes loud karate noises as he moves his hands in a martial arts way. He cracks up and laughs aloud.

Oh, I crack myself up. I love being me.

Whipes a tear from his left eye.

Thunder and Brady Cool really pose no threat to me so I haven't been concering myself with the likes of them. I seriously doubt that any of these three "competitors" can even hold a candle to me. The one, the only, Christian Shields.

Shields lays down on the couch and waves his hand as if he were swatting and fly away. He turns the TV back on and you can hear the sounds of the match he is watching. The view backs away slowly and fades the black.

The description was better than normal but you should still go into more depth to set the scene. The whole idea behind the RP was a little cliched though. I have seen people watch their matches back in RPs and then say "Well I aint gonna do that again" if you see what I mean. I felt you could and should have gone on to say much more on your opponents as well. A few lines doesn't really cut it. Good luck in your match man and keep on improving.

I like this rp. I especially like how you made yourself look so good. Like, how you were saying you crack yourself up....that's pretty cool. Ummmm.

Description needs a bit of work, Just give us more of a picture of where you are and stuff.

Ummm..that's all I can say really.


On a side note...Your banner kicks ass...doesn't it suck their lead singer left the band???

I just got one question, what was the point in watching tapes? does it add to your gimmick or character's element? is he worried, about his performance? or is he just cocky, and thinks wrestling is a act that he's perfected, so he doesn't need to train?

I liked what I seen in the house shows, but on a bigger stage, your still grounded. Don't take offense, I just mean, that even flow balance isn't quite there yet. Its like you get speech thats brings your a game out, but barely there description. or you get description and scene settings that make you stand out, but your speech just doesn't come off as interesting or flows to where someone wants to do more then skim it.

your a good rper no doubt, but I think you should worry less about the tapes, and more about the current going on's. There's alot more detail in a event you see in person, then one you watch after the fact or get part of the information on, if hat makes sense.
