“There's always some aftermath, good and bad, makes-me-happy or makes-me-unhappy, for anything we choose to do.” - Richard Bach
Only a handful of days removed and people are still buzzing about the WFWF pay-per-view, Scars and Stripes. Yeah, it could be classified as the greatest show that the WFWF has ever put on, but then to others it was a example of how you can have it all, to only lose it just like that. One of those people is Yukio Blaze, who was the International Champion walking in a match against the Hardcore X Champion and WFWF young blood, Johnny Valentine. While it was a straight classic that people will talk about in the future, but it showcased that Yukio can still keep up with the new guys. Which leads to Yukio's aftermath, after losing the championship.
Downtown Detroit. It was once the capital of the great state of Michigan, the leader of automotive everything, and the hometowns of great sports personalities and everything in between that is sports. While it may have seen it days, its starting to get better as the Detroit is starting to lower its crime rates and liven up the town by cleaning up all the blight. The downtown area is pivotal to the history of the United States, let it be from the lows of riots, or of the highs with Martin Luther King jr trying the lead the peace. Now, with all of that said, Marty, you know exactly why I chose to contact you like this....
Up sixteen floors high, is the office section to the Spencer and Troy Law Firm. Its the third biggest firm in Detroit with numerous partners and clients, but their specialty is in the sports department, which leads to the main office of one of the founders, Martin Spencer. Martin is sitting at his very nice desk, with his numerous awards and achievements plastered on the wall, overlapping each other. He places his elbows on the table and rubs his forehead, while talking to Yukio Blaze over the speaker phone.
Jeff, I have told you and told you to never do this over the phone. I know its hard to physically come down here to the office, but that is all I ask from you. Another thing, why in the blue hell do you always start the conversation out with a philosophy. Its not hi how you doing, or kiss my ass, or even I'm firing you. Just when I think I've figured you out Jeff, you go and change things up. I seriously hate that.
Marty, how sweet of you. It makes me want to shed a tear because of the verbal abuse....... No, it makes me want to come down there with a bat and beat your ass, but you know I cant do that Marty because I would get arrested and that wouldnt be that grand for my career. That and.....
Yukio gets cut off by the secretary that rushes into the office and plants a folder on Marty's desk. It has numerous post-its stuck on the folder and it even appears to have coffee stains all over it. Marty moves his hands around, telling the secretary to get out. She finally does, but slams his door closed.
What the hell was that. Let me guess Marty, you wasnt ready for this conversation just yet, so I surprised you and you had one of those eye candies rush my folder in. Am I correct my almighty lawyer ?
I'm not going to beat around the bush, but yeah thats what happened. I wasnt expecting this until next Monday or so and on top of that, I'm getting my ass chewed out by me from players from both the Lions and the Tigers. Most of them want out of their contracts, but they are bound for at least five years, unless they want to payback millions to the owners and such. Now, where were we.
The matter of me, the WFWF, you as my lawyer. Now what have you researched on the Intel that I've given you over the past month ?
Mart opens the folder and starts flipping through the pages. He picks certain ones out and places them to the sides. He closes the folder and starts pointing at the purple and green post-it notes. Marty shakes his head and Yukio....
Well, I can hear you sweating like a pig in a roaster, now what do you have Marty ?
Alright Jeff, I have everything here on paper, in black in white, with certain peoples signatures on it. There is yours, mine as the witness, a Johnny Michaels, and WFWF President Johnathan Parker. This is your current contract in the WFWF. You signed it for a three year deal back in December of 2004 and it is set to expire January 1st, of 2008. The simples are all there, but the strange part is that I have a note here saying that you down want out, but nor do you want a new contract of sorts. That puzzles me Jeff as this contract was stipulated on having extensions and such to be added on it. Why did you want the info on this anyways ?
Now we are getting somewhere Marty. I wanted you to go back and fins the exact details because next month, I have arranged for you to meet me up in Maine at the WFWF headquarters to talk about this contract. I'm not saying that I want out, all I want is for a few things to be added. I'm so damn glad that you had the original copy as they dont put that stuff in them anymore. Anyone that signed on after 2006 is screwed and so I'm one of the lucky ones. Now Marty, what about that other thing I wanted ?
Yeah that other thing. I also did the looking behind it and there is lots of confusion behind it. I mean we can confirm that its going to go down, but the details are very sketchy. I was just about to travel north over the weekend and get the information. I have a contact there that has the info and I'll have to give it to you by next monday. I'm sorry Jeff, but thats the best I can do.
Yukio on the other end pauses, while Marty takes a sip out of his coffee mug...
MARTY!!!!!!!
Marty spills the coffee all over his nice white shirt. He looks at the mess that Yukio has called and starts quivering his lip. He signals at the secretary on the outside, and she picks up a different phone and starts calling someone.
Damn you Jeff. You have ruined my nice shirt. I just bought this the other day.
Go buy another one, you can afford it. So um, I forgot to ask you earlier, how is Marcy and the kids.
They are fine. Joan lost her first tooth, Mark is trying out of the upcoming ski team and Marcy is still continuing with that novel she is trying to finish. But other than that, everything is fine. Oh yeah, I called in Scars and Stripes the other night. It was actually a pretty good show, but I noticed that you are no longer the champion. Was that the way it was supposed to finish. You know, you can tell me.
I cannot tell you that Marty as I would be in breach of a contract and it would just make you that much more of a smart mark. I bet you that you have read all over the internet sites on this upcoming match for Loaded. Valentne vs Blaze vs Demon in a hardcore triple threat for the Hardcore title and I can bet you anything that you already have a winner picked out.
Me, smart mark no, but I can say that it will appear that Johnny Valentine will walk out as a champion on the sole fact that he Marty gestures his fingers as quotes knocked you out with that kick. He has happened once and it can happen again, plus another element against you is Trace Demon. A former Hardcore X champion and someone that has been in numerous gimmick matches that this triple threat will make him feel right at home and finally, I thought you were done with all the hardcore matches. You are too damn good to be a glorified stuntman.
Very funny Marty, glorified stuntman, I would call myself more of a adrenaline jockey. I love it went I can fly in the air and belt a man or two with a move that is often tried, but never goes right. Now as for Valentine and Trace. I like both the guys, even if they dont have the time in, but they fight like veterans. I makes me know that when I wrestle these guys, it isnt against a guy that can wrestle like a guy just entering gym. The other end is that those two guys knows that I can wrestle any style that they can dish out. Brawler, technician, high flyer, I can do all of those as I'm experienced in them, but I;m also experienced at holding a little bit of championship gold if you know what I mean.
Yeah, thats true but it took you over two years to accomplish a championship.
Quit the backtalk or I will be forced to choke your ass out, but in the end I'm ready for Johnny Valentine and Trace Demon as this match almost comes full circle. Everyone will be gaining from it and everyone will be walking away with something. Johnny Valentine will walk away with a championship, Trace Demon with cuts and bruises, and I'll be walking out the new champion. Let it be a powerbomb through the table or dropping one of those guys on thumbtacks. One way or another, I'm walking out with the gold.
The secretary knocks on Marty's office door and she has a new white shirt for Marty on a nice golden hanger. Marty smiles and she hands him the shirt. She exits the door and sits back into her chair.
Flashback
The secretary called down on the tenth floor to the janitor. He has no name, just everyone calls him janitor. Marty waves to her and she races down the hall to catch the elevator. She pushes the 10 button and a few minutes later, she is on the tenth floor. She exits the elevator door and heads right to a janitors closet. She enters the door and the janitor is standing there with his shirt off. She comes close to him and plants a kiss right on his lips. She then places her finger on the janitors lips and exits the door, Janitor slaps her on the ass and the moves her finger at him in a bad boy kind of way. She races back to the elevators, pushes the 16 button. After a few minutes, she reaches her floor and races to Marty's office.
Marty takes off the coffee covered shirt and puts the new one on as he sees he has a new call coming through.
Marty, I'm going to have to let you go as I've got someone on the other line. I'll see you next Monday up in Maine and we will sort the whole thing out. You take care now Jeff and come and see me here anytime.
Not a chance, Uncle. See ya Monday.
Marty pushes the button on his phone and starts to talk to the next person on his phone, but then about a 500 or so miles west is Yukio Blaze setting in the backstage area of the Springfield Arena. He is getting prepared for later tonight and he has his wrestling attire on. He looks to his left and sees Johnny Valentine talking to some people and to his right is Trace Demon messing with a shopping cart and putting implements into the cart. Yukio mumbles under his breath.
Just when I thought the Aftermath of Scars and Stripes was back. Tonight after Loaded, we are all going to need some aspirin.....
“The easiest period in a crisis situation is actually the battle itself. The most difficult is the period of indecision -- whether to fight or run away. And the most dangerous period is the aftermath. It is then, with all his resources spent and his guard down, that an individual must watch out for dulled reactions and faulty judgment.” - Richard M Nixon
