On the eve of Veni Vidi Vici, we find ourselves in the empty Boston Garden. The ring is still being assembled by the ring crew and the pyrotechnics are being tested on the stage. In one of the seats we recognise a familiar face; “Total Apocalypse” Mikael West.
“Veni Vidi Vici.”
“I came. I saw. I conquered.”
“I wish I could stand here saying that, but unfortunately I can’t. I used to pride myself on giving my all, week in, week out. Being honest, last week I can’t say I did. It was just a few weeks ago I berated Obo for his arrogance, yet last week rather than training and preparing for my match, I was goofing around with MOD, eating chicken and drinking beer. I’m a hypocrite. I talk about wanting to leave a legacy in WFWF, but recently I have become a joke. Last week it was a four way fray, where two so called “legends” were teamed up, competing against two individual opponents. It should have been easy, we had such a significant advantage. Yet we were humbled. I’m not going to disrespect Yukio Blaze, but up against three men, two of which were aligned, he was not expected to walk out victorious. But hey, it might have just been unlucky right? A one off, a bad week. I wish it was, but sadly it now marks my second successive defeat. There’s no shame in losing to the world champion, you may think. But that’s not what bothers me. What bothers me is the patronising I’ve received since then. It’s almost as if nobody expected me to defeat Obo.”
“A few years ago, if anyone defeated Total Apocalypse, it was a huge deal. No matter if it was a newcomer scoring an upset or an established star such as EBR or Destroyer. But now? After Obo defeated me, he didn’t see it as an accomplishment, I was just another Hall of Famer he’d defeated, another legend he had killed. With all due respect to the other legends he has defeated, I’m a former owner of this company, one of the few men who is a triple crown winner and the only Ring of Honor champion in WFWF history. I don’t mean to sound arrogant, but at the minute I feel like I’m being disrespected. I mean here it is, my first pay per view in WFWF for years and what am I doing? Main eventing? No In a featured match? No. I’m jerking the curtain, competing for the tag titles. The tag team titles have a strong history with some big names, including myself, as previous title holders. However, I’d be lying to say I’m happy going after the tag titles. Traditionally tag teams are formed by two up and comers looking to make a name for themselves. This is now my third run in WFWF, I’d say I’m established enough to stand on my own two feet.”
“So it’s hard to stand here and honestly say that I’m desperate to win the tag team titles. What makes it all the more difficult is the fact that my opponents this Sunday give me such a feeling of déjà vu. Calvin Lee is a man who’s simply drifting around WFWF just now, trying to find a sense of direction, a purpose, much like myself. This is a guy who was an established star in the XWA, but has lost his way in WFWF. And his tag team partner, Luther Castle is seen as a joke figure here in WFWF. I’m not going to disrespect and demean the guy. In all honesty, I don’t know much about him. But Calvin and Luther remind me of two newcomers from a yesteryear…Total Apocalypse and Master of Destruction debuted in WFWF around the same time, and their paths consistently crossed. We fought each other, teamed and a lot of the time were compared to each other. Without meaning to sound arrogant, I’d say I went onto achieve greater success of the two – however my success was short lived. I disappeared into obscurity as quickly as I had risen to the top. But MOD? He quietly built up a reputation for himself, as someone who consistently delivered, regardless of who he was competing against. So maybe all of the people who are writing off Luther Castle so quickly should take a look back in WFWF history, and maybe they’d reconsider the way they’re ignoring his potential.”
“But going into Veni Vidi Vici, I can’t help but feeling that MOD and I can’t win. As I said before, I’m not exactly desperate to win the tag team titles, so it’s difficult to find motivation for this match. But if we were to lose? We’d become an even bigger joke. Two so called “legends” losing to a so called “nobody” Luther Castle and a promising, if low on confidence Calvin Lee. Calvin, Luther I’m not going to lie, I genuinely don’t have an issue with you – there’s no hatred, no anger. To me, this is just a match that I have to win. Not to earn a shot at the tag team titles, but to try and retain what little respect I have left in this company. Like I said previously, Calvin reminds me of myself just now, but unfortunately on Sunday our paths will cross. One of us will walk away with a rare victory, while the others confidence will once again be beaten down. I guess we’ll find out on Sunday, just exactly who will conquer…”
With that, West gets up from his seat and begins walking down the stairs as we fade out.
OOC: Only noticed that the deadline was tonight, and this is the only chance I’ve had to RP. Not going to lie, it’s kind of rushed, which probably shows. Couldn’t really think of a scenario for this RP, which is why I’ve just went with the generic setting. Hopefully the dialogue’s okay, as I know the description is basically non existent. Hopefully I’ll have more of a chance to RP next time, and produce something a bit better.
Anyway replies would be welcome, although I think I know what I need to improve on already.
