Roman Reigns has been Champion since August 2020. Contrary to opinion now many people were all for the heel turn and this rebirth. However if you told me in August 2020 this title run would still be ongoing in 2024 id call bs.
Going into this run what did you expect?
I honestly thought Roman was going to drop it at Mania 37. Or maybe drop it at the next Summer Slam. Personally I thought this was going to be 1-2 year situation and he’d have come to Jesus moment and turn baby face and be adored by the crowd

I thought he'd hold it for a year and then turn face again

it is important to recognise how they are manipulating this run and get the facts straight:
- UNIVERSAL champion - not WWE Champ... even unified it is not exactly the same since the unification did not occur straight away - beat days record all they want, there is a more important record which is the DEFENDING number of times they laced their boots and went to work, this alone changes everything, go back in time and tell Bruno that he will be champ for 8 years and only work 57 times he would have you sleeping with the fishes

I'm not a fan of how they're combining the Universal and WWE Championship reigns and that becomes part of the WWE Championship lineage. He hasn't held the WWE Championship for 1000 plus days but were meant to believe that he has.
I expected a long reign (not three plus years though) to coincide with his new heel character. By the time he got to Wrestlemania 37, his only opponents had been Jey Uso, Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan which didn't seem like enough. I'd say once he got past Lesnar at Crown Jewel 2021 is when I realised they were in for the long haul. He had beaten three major part timers in a row in Edge, Cena and Lesnar. All that were left were the guys you knew had zero chance of winning with the exception of a few.

Whatever happens at this point they need to be all in on whoever they have planned to beat him because it will make that person. It's gotta be someone who needs the rub. I'd wait until Wm 41 for whoever they plan to be #1 and take the thrown.

Misery and disappointment. My expectations have been well met.

Only twice during the run did I think he would lose the title. Mania 37 and 39. Retained in both so I'm pretty much numb to it at this point.
The only thing truly "historic" is the number of days he's been champion. They can say whatever they want to, and they will, but Roman isn't even top 5 all time and never will be. He was their golden boy selection over 10 years ago and they're milking it for what they always wanted. Problem is, WWE isn't really good at knowing when to stop. They've been running on fumes for the last year so hopefully the end is near.

Well this is honestly the best thing Roman has done. But now even this is on the decline. The only time I thought he was going to lose was last year at WM.
I think Roman needs to lose the title at WM this year and then disappear for a while. Return as a baby face. It will be huge.

I don't see why so many people are hard up on the number of times he's defended the title, how many times did MJF defend his title in his 400 days? It's all about the storylines surrounding the defenses and while most are full of "misery and disappointment", without giving a valid reason, Roman and the whole "Bloodline" storyline has been done pretty damn good which makes the title defenses mean a little more than just throwing a match together.

I don’t mind him not wrestling as much, but even MJF was on tv almost every week. Roman shows up once or twice every three months. That’s my problem with it all.

But I look at it like the Hogan days, back on those shows you never saw Hogan every week and when you did it made it more special. I think it's a good balance, the "Bloodline" stuff is good, but we don't need to hear it every week because that way it would get stale really fast. Which I think is going to start to happen if the Rock/Roman rumors are true. People will want the days where you don't hear from them non-stop.

This is why I feel that Cody Rhodes should be the one who beats Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, it's time for a new champion and a new era.
What is with the Cody Rhodes hate all of a sudden?

I think Reigns career will end within 2 years. He may wrestle once or twice a year.

I expected nothing less, they've had the raging boner for Roman since before he was Roman. And wanted to put in very little effort into organically developing him to be a “goat” name you throw into conversation in years to come. So this was always going to be torture for anyone bored off their tits watching him parade around like he’s actually an entertaining superstar. People crow on about the bloodline and whilst like the first two weeks of it had something going, besides wringing it to dust I don’t see what it’s accomplished really. The length of title reign means absolutely nothing if there’s no substance behind it.
They glimpsed an opportunity to turn a corner in my view last year, it could have been a new dawn with a new guy on top. A new perspective but it didn’t happen and now I don’t think anything they do will prove able to usher in that new dawn. Sure Cody could win it this year or next whatever but it will never feel like them saying, you’re our guy or a fresh start because actually losing to Roman and this “match” they repeat over and over again is proving to be very damaging to the perspective people have of the losers - because they have nowhere to go after doing so, back to pressing up against the glass box they sit in wondering when someone’s gonna turn the lights on and we actually have a show like they used to be.
