Found 2 Bret’s no Piper

Seems some stores are putting out one or the other and some both. My local store had a lone Piper on the shelf (for the silly ones, he's still there) and no Brets. They also got a MNW elite replenishment.

10:15PM - New Castle, DE - Hmm.... they're bringing in the pallets. Hmmmmm.... that one box on the bottom says...... "Monday Night Wars Ultimates." Should I or shouldn't I? Well you know I pulled that box off the pallet, cracked that sum'bitch open & took Bret & Piper to the nearest register, praying nobody would notice or care..... Buying figures from a store you work at is wrong and immoral, but taking product off of a pallet, opening the case and removing product when you aren’t an employee… that’s okay? I think we found the actual hypocrite. Ok, not trying to take sides on any of this but I think we all would be tempted in these types of situation - both the "brother who is a manager at Walmart" situation and the "box is on the pallet" situation. And I would completely use both to my advantage if I could - and have in the past. The only issue I have is that I wouldn't advertise it. I don't that part of it at all - like the guy on the Facebook group in the pics above. I worked at a KB toys store from 1999-2008, and that was when there were a number of hot figure collecting going on. I was interested mainly in McFarlane NFL Sports Picks and Jakk's Classic Superstars. We got regular cases of those and you can bet I took advantage and purchased them before they hit the shelves. It is a fact of life, that IS a perk of the job. I was also a bit more discreet about it and didn't brag online about that behavior. We also had 24 hour Walmarts back then, and being a night owl, I would go there on the regular and if they had a case of figures sitting on the pallet that I wanted, I would absolutely take it off, get what I need - then politely put the rest of the figures on the pegs so I am not leaving a mess for the employees to deal with - I figure that was my way of making it a bit more legit taking them off the pallet myself. I still do that if I come across a pallet with a box of figures I want, but that is much more rare these days as Walmart's (at least around me) are no longer 24 hours. So yeah, I can see both sides of the issue, but I do think that if each and every one of us were in these types of situations, I think the temptation would be there - especially with exclusives and the like.

There isn't a right or wrong, collectors in the end got what they wanted, Walmart made their money. And scalpers cry. Win win win.

Unfortunately, Walmart, I'm guessing mostly due to overall negligence, has created a situation where collectors can not just "buy the toys." We've all had to come up with different ways of being clever, creative, or just plain sneaky in order to get our hands on these collectibles. The other option? You wind up with nothing but over-priced scalper-ads on Ebay or cool stuff missing from your collection. We all knew when they unveiled the "Monday Night Wars" that this was going to be bad. Let's hope Steve's recent words that Walmart is making improvements is actually true. I'm not holding my breath. However, I did notice in my 6 Walmart stops yesterday that SEVERAL stores had the Super Mario Bros. movie toys at Clearance prices still on shelves. And some G.I. Joe stuff too. Typically we haven't seen them do this, at least not widely. The stuff usually either sits and rots for YEARS or it gets shifted over to those cute little "Clearance" rows, still at about 90% of the original price that it was - hardly "clearance" at all. So maybe Walmart IS trying something new?

So what happened to the filthy animals Rey? That's definitely not it. what's with the change? You're super late to the party... They had to course correct. It got pulled, presumably by WWE. Um...why???

So, fun fact, talked with multiple people who have worked for extended periods at Walmart. And they both said, manager or no manager, if a DISTRICT manager found out said brother was doing this, he'd be canned on the spot. You can call it a perk of the job all you want, but it is strictly against Walmart company policy and if Walmart wanted to, they could fire the brother without hesitation, especially considering this guy is advertising doing this online.

But saying we that we all have had to find ways to be sneaky about it is objectively false. Some of us would rather not compromise our morals for toys. Even if I was presented with the chance to be sneaky about something, I wouldn't. I'll go to secondary to get a figure before I'm unfair about getting it. And honestly? I've done it before and I'll do it again, if I was presented on secondary with the option of buying a MOC figure for slightly cheaper than a minty fresh loose one? I'll buy the loose one for the few bucks more and leave the MOC listing for a person who wants MOC. Money isn't everything. Action figures aren't the end of the world. But being a good, fair, and just person is VERY important to me and if I have to sacrifice money and/or figures to keep my conscience in good standing, I will do so happily.

Being "sneaky" doesn't necessarily mean "immoral" like you are implying. And you are mis-quoting me anyway. My point was that you can't just walk into a store and buy the figures you want anymore. And in many cases, you can't even just click and order them online. We have to find other ways (clever, creative, or sneaky). If you take an extra cookie when your wife isn't looking because you know she'd scold you about your diet - - - that's being "sneaky" but it's not immoral. The cookies were there to eat and she doesn't care about the cookies. It's all about context. I just snuck some Easter gifts for my son's Easter basket upstairs to my bedroom.... I was careful to make sure he didn't see what I was doing. I was being "sneaky"..... is that immoral? I don't know if you are implying that I should feel guilty for buying two figures off of a Walmart pallet - but I don't feel guilty about it at all. Not in the least. Maybe you and I don't define the word "sneaky" in the same way. Guess what? I'm quite sure some of your secondary market sources got their figures the exact same way that cldbld and I did. Does that make you better for paying them double for doing it? Because in your mind - it's the "right thing to do?" Believe me - I would be very, very happy to simply order these buggers online and be done with all of this - - - but Walmart isn't giving us that option.

Hit 3 Walmarts. #3 hit pay dirt. Hidden behind tons of Barney Jerichos and Kingstons were 1 of each. Now onto Series 2.

I’m just here to read about grown men arguing if buying an item at your work establishment is wrong or taking them directly off the pallet is wrong.
Seriously. It’s not even your local store that someone got them from. And on top of that - these are toys.
It’s not that serious or deep.
Congrats to everyone who’s managing to find these, in whatever fashion you get them! I overpaid on eBay, and I’m glad I did. My local Wal-Mart has yet to even put a WM display out. Hopefully I’ll find a second set to keep MOC.
