Not gonna lie. You’ve missed the golden days of GTA Online, which were around 2015. Nowadays it’s a griefer’s paradise where everyone has a jet or flying bike that fires missiles.
Check Rockstar’s social media for what game modes are currently paying extra.
There are plenty of ways to make money but some options require you to buy a building of some sort first. Heists require a high end apartment. CEO work requires an office. Those are two of my favorite ways to earn, although there may be better options by now.
Don’t feel the need to have the nicest office or car or apartment. It’s all cosmetic, plus there’s plenty of time for that later on.
Get a Special Carbine.
Join heists and contact missions through the Start menu or invites that’ll appear in the bottom left of the screen. It shouldn’t take long to find a decent group of players. Join a crew even. That’ll skyrocket the level up / money making process.

Its still fun to play but it can feel like a chore at times.
