I just started doing this and I agree with PSA. When I’m buying graded cards I prefer PSA, gotten a few BGS, if the price was right. On some card sites I visit there are some people going with SCG based on current turnaround time and pricing.
It seems like that is the basis of selling/value is PSA, BGS, SGC, everything else. Now some BGS with their elusive 10s go for more but again, depends if you are doing it for your own piece of mind or strictly for reselling purposes.
I recently got my first start to finish, sending in one of my Topps LeBron James rookies. You pay based on what you project the card to be worth and I felt based on current market, even if it got a 9, it would be in the Express service price range - which is a 5 business day “turnaround”. Really by the time they received and processed, took about a month. Although the service was a $75 service level, they charged me $14 to send back - so when it was done, they charged me $89 for that one card. That did not account for my cost to get it to them. Overall for that one card it cost me $97.
I have a couple larger submissions sitting there but the wait times are crazy. I have a box that got delivered there in early September that just got an update they are reviewing. Saw on another site people who went in that stage in July are still waiting for their cards to finish so unless you are sending stuff at the high service levels, it will be a bit of a wait right now.
