From MMAweekly.com:
As expected, the UFC on Monday officially announced the September 8th date for their return to London. The UFC’s first foray into London was UFC 38 five years ago. The promotion also announced the headline bout and some of the other participants for their return.
As previously confirmed by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, he will face Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 75 at the O2 Arena. The newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jackson will put his belt on the line against Pride champion Henderson. Although the future of Pride is currently in limbo, this will mark the first time that UFC and Pride champions clash with their titles on the line.
“For the last decade, MMA fans have asked the question – who is the true worldwide No.1 in each weight class? At UFC 75, they will have their answer as far as the 205 lbs. division is concerned," stated UFC UK Division President Marshall Zelaznik.
Also announced for UFC 75 were Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Michael Bisping. Filipovic will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since being knocked out by a Gabriel Gonzaga head kick at UFC 70 in Manchester, England. Meanwhile, Bisping will also mark his first bout since UFC 70, where he bested Elvis Sinosic.
No opponent was announced for either fighter. It is expected, however, that Filipovic, the #3 ranked heavyweight in the world by MMAWeekly.com, will face French fighter Cheick Kongo. Bisping was advertised on Ticketmaster.com as facing The Ultimate Fighter veteran Matt Hamill, however, a recent report by Loretta Hunt of The Fight Network indicates that current IFL coach and UFC veteran Ken Shamrock may be a possibility for the British fighter.
In recent comments to Kenny Rice on NBCSports.com, Shamrock confirmed that his manager is in negotiations with UFC President Dana White and that he is hopeful to return soon. The UFC Hall of Famer did not indicate any opponents in his comments though.
Should be fun.
