I've only really got back into the loop of using the forum, so sorry if this has been a topic.
Was wondering if anyone has picked up any of the new basics, and how they compare to the older ones with the original articulation? Do they look, feel, cheaper when put beside older basics?
I don't buy many basics, but I count on them for the majority of the females, but from what I've seen with Alicia, Natalya, Nia Jax, they look horrible. Almost like the Jakks divas!
Anyone have any first hand experience of what they're like? I don't want to lose out on any new women, but if they're as bad as they look I might have to! 😞

I have the b81 Rollins....actually the plastic isn’t hollow like his last few, so they feel more solid. But with the ankle articulation being eliminated, I won’t be buying many more...the arms I can deal with, but still prefer the old way

I like the arms. I've had such an issue with getting figures with loose biceps swivel, that I am so happy that the joint is eliminated for Basics. The Basic ankle articulation, I can take or leave.
I actually wish the ELITES had the new Basic arms, because again, loose biceps is a huge problem for me.

I'm not a fan of the way the new women's figures look. I'm not sure if it's just optics or if the new parts are having some effect, but the figures just look clunky and overly elongated to me.
On the male figures, I actually don't mind the new arms as much as I thought I would. I think it will actually help highly tattooed figures, since the tats won't be broken up between the shoulder and bicep. I don't love it, but it won't completely stop me from buying basics moving forward.

I've yet to pick up any of the new style Basics, but I saw a Natalya a few days back and I thought it looked awful.

The only basic with the new articulation I have is Sasha Banks. I'm not big on basics to begin with but I liked the attire more than the basic black Sasha figure I already had so I picked it up during the RSC Black Friday sales.
I have no objection to the arms. All the articulation we are used to is still there, just at different points.
I am somewhat bothered by the loss of ankle articulation. I would imagine its even worse for people who pose their figures or do pic feds. The solid ankles makes it a million times harder to pose these figures. You basically have one pose that is stable.

I got some of the new arm figures. I actually like the new style. And personally I prefer the no ankle movement because I always ended up with the figure that have loose or weak ankles. So I’m happy with the new figure style.

I was already down to o my buying basics of my favorites or attires I had to have.
Won't change that strategy.

The articulation is as good as the old arms, they just look much worse.

I just display them on shelves, and didn't think the change would make much difference. Even just displayed, I'd rather have old style back.

They suck. And somehow the feet seem giant without the articulation cut to break it up, but it may just be my imagination. F'n clown shoes. I used to buy cheap basics for parts, but now I can't do that. So, bye-bye basics.

The articulation is as good as the old arms, they just look much worse. it's not the same. I can't even do a good looking DDT or neck breaker with the bew Jake and Rude basics. Clothelines with Sgt Slaughter look like crap the way the arm bends now. The new articulation is far worse. Human elbows are hinged joints, so any pose with these figures now looks inherently unnatural and stiff.

I have also yet bought a basic figure with that articulation. Just from the photos alone, i prefer the old articulation; or hell, I'd take the mid-point of articulation (articulation that still has the bicep swivel and normal elbow joint, but just covered)
kind of hilarious when JAKKs never done any of kind of cheapening ever since they realized their contract is going to be up, they never actively decided to cheap out on articulation when paint and any other common standard were the ones to go
and also: i fail to see how this saves money, the older style can be used both by Elites, and Basics; thus reducing the costs of having to make a specialized mold for Basics only. Considering you have to have 2 of every mold from now on, one for Elites and one for Basics, coupled in with the skin tone, glove hands and elbow pads
not to mention: you can't even do any basic poses, so if you're a big stop-motion maker, pic-fedder, or playing with the toys in general, makes it hard to do those certain things

The only basic with the new articulation I have bought is Corey Graves. Because it's extremely unlikely they'll do an elite of him. I can't stand the new joints so I'm limiting purchases to just announcers or anyone who leaves the company and never got elite treatment.

There really is not much of a difference
PJ posted photos a while back of figures doing the same crap with the new ads

It really sounds like these basics are utter garbage! I do have Corey, but as he's a suit guy, I didn't notice the differences.
I've always had the rule of only buying basics of guys that I don't think will ever be given Elites, but now after hearing all the horror stories, I think I may just have to stop buying basics altogether.
I'm more concerned about the females! I don't wanna miss out on any, but I don't want to ruin my collection by having a bad one either!

I'm only buying the announcers since the new articulation isn't too noticeable and some of the women that either haven't got or recently got figures such as Alicia Fox for example.

From a customizers stand point, they suck.

I was planning on ONLY getting suited basics from now on because of this. However I needed the BAF Fink so I bought the whole set of flashbacks. The legs on Rick Rude are HORRIBLE as they’re bowed. I hate the lack of articulation on them. I might be done buying them completely unless they’re for a BAF from this point forward.
