I was fortunate enough to get to talk to Bill for about 30 minutes at SDCC late Sunday afternoon. Here's a few random tidbits I remember that you guys might find interesting. :-) (Apologies if advance if any of this is old news and I just missed it).
The gurney w/ Strowman was a last minute change. He originally was going to come with "a different really cool accessory" that we'll see elsewhere later on. He also emphasized that the third elite Strowman will have totally new textured pants which he isn't sure a lot of people noticed from the slide.
He tried to give Slater a more accurate teeshirt (as opposed to sleeveless) but couldn't due to the cost of the deco on his tights and tatts.
The new elite Asuka has SO MUCH deco and new tooling that she caused her wave to go over budget despite every other figure in the wave being under budget.
No additional accessories (shirts or jackets) for the elite Revival due to budget.
Paul Ellering is a "definite possibility."
Nothing to announce but they've taken notice how more and more figures lines have interchangeable hands. At the very least he says they're open to the idea of doing unique hand gestures. We discussed Cena, Nakamura, Hardys, and Dillinger.
He knows that the zipper on Miz's coat should be silver but it actually would have cost more than it did to do the deco on his trunks.
Not all the figures are digital scans still. He pointed out AOP as not being scanned.
NXT series will continue through the year at least.
He's actually tried to emphasize to WWE that he'd like to do more colorful gear (I'd brought up a personal note that the NXT characters were all wearing a lot of black.)
Anyone on the concussion law suit list is off limits. They were allowed to finish anyone that they had already done substantial work on but that's it. There's at least one name on it that they had just started doing work on that they had to drop that he found heart breaking. I'd asked him specifically about Barbarian and he said it was a shame because they "absolutely would have done the cape and antlers for him."
I told him I immediately broke down and ordered the Nation two pack when the Dlo figure was teased. He said that's "honestly why we did it."
Ringside will have Bates too but he's "exclusive" to the UK because there's a retailer there (...Salingers? Something like that.) that does a crazy good job of stocking / displaying / supporting the line and they wanted to something for them in return.
He wasn't sure but he thinks the only other UK guy they can do right now is Dunne.
Asked about an elite style Dibiase w/ molded tux and he said no plans but open to it.
He's not really aware which older figures do and don't command a high price on the secondary market.
That's everything I remember off the top of my head! Hope you guys found it interesting! SUPER nice guy to chat w/ btw.
