Supreme Gauntlet 17! Finals
WFWF World Heavyweight Championship Match
---------------------------------------------------
Joe Bishop vs. David Brennan
Well it’s here, and hot hell it’s more exciting than we ever imagined. Both Joe Bishop and David Brennan have earned their places in this tourney final through sheer perseverance. Neither man lost a single bout during the tournament and that’s the only reason they’ve made it, as both had competitors biting at their heels all the way until Night 5 was over. Joe Bishop finally managed to put his demons to bed, in a showing that many are already calling a 2017 Match of the Year candidate. It’s not just the match with Trace Demon that has got all eyes on him though, Bishop has been convincing the world, one match at a time, that he’s on the best form of his career right now, and who’s going to argue with that? Well? One man, and perhaps the only man, who could be considered on a hotter tear. The International and for all intents and purposes Tag Team Champion, Mr Brennan. David Brennan is undefeated since his return in 2016 and that’s no padded resumé. Victories over Penny Shannon, Ante Whitner, Drakz, Joshua Dean and Lucas Crowe to name a few have solidified his position in the WFWF, which is why it’s no surprise to us that he’s made it this far.
What’s more? Neither of these men have ever laid claim to the big one. A victory for either man here will ring in the beginning of either of their first ever WFWF World Heavyweight Championship reigns. That my friends just isn’t something that happens very often. Hold on to your butts.
Bad Blood
---------------------------------------------------
Trace Demon vs. Scarlett Quinn
It’s safe to say that no one really needs a reason to want to kick Trace Demon’s ass. He’s slighted practically everyone who’s had so much as a cup of coffee in this business at some point or another, however this time around he’s here because of the way he’s been gloating about injuring a young rookie, and not just any young rookie, but an Ahriman, and not just any Ahriman, an Ahriman girl with the backing of the entire McGurk contingent. Needless to say Scarlett Quinn hasn’t taken kindly to this and as such she jumped the King of Demons after his defeat at the hands of Joe Bishop. If that was where it ended we’d still be on for a barn burner but, given the issues these two have had in the past concerning the WFWF World Heavyweight Championship it’s a reasonable assumption to make that someone is going to get seriously hurt before that final bell rings.
Proving Ground
---------------------------------------------------
Ante Whitner vs. Frank Lynn vs. Tyson Watts
Frank Lynn's hunt to get himself a star making moment has hit some road bumps over the past year. First his efforts to become the WFWF Tag Team Champion resulted in his partner getting injured. Then he came up short in his hunt for the Golden Opportunity. His latest problem is that he actually got a big win, pinning former WFWF World Champion Scarlett Quinn, only for it to come as a result of some cheap tactics by Trace Demon. Also in that match was Tyson Watts, who is far from happy at Lynn taking a 'cheap win' as he puts it, despite Lynn's claims that he never intended to win in such a manner. Stuck in the middle of both of them is Ante Whitner, the current holder of the Golden Opportunity. Whitner came up short in the tie breaking match of the Supreme Gauntlet group B so is looking to get back on track, and knows that while his Golden Opportunity won't be on the line, if he loses this match then the winner will get the next shot. He and Lynn have plenty of history between them and Lynn will jump at the chance to get another shot, while for Watts it's the biggest shot of his career. Which of these three fast rising stars will get a big win?
On the Hunt
---------------------------------------------------
Phillip Schneider vs. Hugh Jass
SWERVE! Phillip Schneider fooled the world, and us for that matter with his most recent entry in the “Schneider’s Slayings” series. He seemed to be picking out ante Whitner once again, only this time challenging him to a match at the Pay Per View. Bizarrely it turns out he was talking about new blood Hugh Jass?! Jass has done nothing but surprise and impress during his run in the Supreme Gauntlet 17! winning over the likes of Joe Bishop and the WFWF fans, so right now he has to be wondering “what on earth did I do?” Not one to go easy on rookies, Schneider will no doubt be looking to make an example of Jass in his first in ring competition since his apparent retirement in 2015 but is he likely to take Hugh lightly? And if so can Jass take advantage of that and skyrocket his career into the stratosphere with a victory over the hardcore legend? Whatever the outcome, no doubt, this is one not to miss!
Opportunity Knocks
---------------------------------------------------
Mike Jette vs. Brandon Bison
Mike Jette was injured in tag team action last year and many people considered him done with the WFWF, having not heard a word from either he or his representatives ever since. That’s why it came as such a shock when he turned up out of the blue and attacked Brandon Bison for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Last week though we heard Jette trying to justify his choices and, as much as we may not like them, there is a sound logic in there, logic that has come to fruition in the form of this match. Jette wanted a chance to beat Bison and steal his shot at Whitner’s Golden Opportunity and that’s what he’s got, the question is though can he manage it? Brandon Bison has set the bar for the WFWF undercard in recent months with a string of victories that looks to springboard him further up the card. He said it himself, if he can beat an attacking Jette here it only serves to give him more fuel in his jets.
