”Supreme Gauntlet 17 - Night 4: Go Supreme Yourself!”
LIVE from The Fedex Forum, Memphis, Tennessee!
Welcome to the coooool opening. Trust us, there is one, we’re not making this stuff up. What, you don’t believe us? Who cares, we’re just words on a page, we don’t have emotions. You’re the freak talking to your computer screen.
Alecia Matthews: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the fourth night of the WFWF Supreme Gauntlet! Our tie breakers may already be set but there’s still plenty to get excited for here tonight.
Daniel Knight: Damn straight. Trace Demon and Ante Whitner are both in action and while they’ve already guaranteed that their matches next week will be tie breakers they’ll be wanting to get some momentum heading into them.
Alecia Matthews: Not only that but we’ve got two big returns with both Scarlett Quinn and Reverend Shadow in action.
Daniel Knight: Speaking of, we’re kicking off the show with one of those returns.
Alecia Matthews: Scarlett Quinn is a former WFWF World Champion and has proven time and time again that she can do it just as well as any man.
Daniel Knight: But she’s been out of action for some time now, and that title run didn’t exactly have the best of finishes. Can she get the job done against Dr. Mantis Toboggan, or will her return end in tears?
Scarlett Quinn looks at Toboggan more than a little weirdly, but she seems to find him more amusing than anything else. That swiftly changes when he pulls a condom out of his pocket and the amusement turns to disgust. Thankfully, for just about everyone, Scarlett dodges the Monster Condom (did I really just write that) and hits him with a big dropkick, then a snap DDT takes him to the mat. Scarlett demands the referee removes the condom from the ring and he’s forced to agree when she points out it’s a freakin’ condom. The official attempts to prise the condom from Toboggan’s hand… but the good doctor flips out and stuffs it down his throat! Half the crowd look like they’re about to be sick as Toboggan attempts to jam the condom down the referee’s gullet, Scarlett Quinn simply watches on wondering what the hell happened when she was away. She thankfully steps, or rather leaps, in and knocks Toboggan clean out with the Drive-By Kick. The good doctor hits the mat and Scarlett makes the cover. 1…2…3!
Christa Adina: The winner of this match, Scarlett Quinn!
Daniel Knight: That was a weird match.
Alecia Matthews: You’ll get no arguments here, but either way Scarlett Quinn returns with a win, let’s hope she gets a less crazy challenge next time round.
Daniel Knight: In the WFWF? Does such a thing even exist?
We cut to the back where Joe Bishop is standing, microphone in hand, mulling over what he wants to say to the WFWF fanbase. After a small pause, the Brit raises his microphone.
Joe Bishop: A lot of people, fans, press, peers, they've been asking me, about Trace Demon. I don't think it's escaped anybodies attention that Trace and I have history. That in a weeks time, we're going face to face in a match that will most likely decide the winner of our Supreme Gauntlet group. And it's not escaped anyone's attention, that Trace Demon is doing everything he can to get in my head. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not the least bit interested in talking about Trace Demon.
I'm not interested in making my issues with Trace Demon any more public than they already are. And I sure as hell wouldn't be standing here, microphone in hand, just to address a man who gets far too much attention already. I'm standing here, talking to every single WFWF fan, for one reason and one reason only. Because I need to acknowledge what's obvious to everybody...
Bishop lowers the microphone for a moment, letting the anticipation build before making his admission.
Joe Bishop: I was wrong. They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and I've got to admit, I'm pretty embarassed that I made that mistake. Last week I took on Hugh Jass, and I treated him like he was a joke. Like he didn't belong in this ring. I told the whole world that I was going to make an example of him because I thought he was a threat to this company. And I say it again, I was wrong. I'm not interested in cutting in to egotists like Trace Demon on National TV, because they don't deserve the recognition. But Hugh Jass, after the performance he put in last week, he deserves all the recognition in the world.
I was wrong, and I'm f***ing ecstatic to have been wrong, because it means that there's one more wrestler in this promotion, who cares. One more wrestler who's willing to put in the hard work, do everything in their power to raise the bar. To take this sport to the next level, one more wrestler capable of pushing me to up my game even more.
The WFWF fans in the packed Fedex Forum don't pass up the opportunity to get behind Hugh Jass, who's clearly made a quick impression.
Joe Bishop: It's so, so refreshing to be able to watch people who care about this sport. And it's a damn shame, that I won't get to see Hugh Jass in that ring again this week, because a man I was dead right about – Austin Hayes – has taken his ball and gone home. Apparently the WFWF scouts managed to bring in a talent who a month or so after making his debut, 'doesn't have passion for professional wrestling', impressive isn't it? I could go on all day about Austin Hayes and the WFWF scouting team and what I think of them. But I'd best stop myself because, as I say, they don't deserve the attention.
Bishop pauses, taking a moment to regain his composure, having worked himself up over what he sees as failings of the WFWF.
Joe Bishop: Now another athlete who, like Hugh Jass, deserves recognition for their performances in this tournament. Who deserves my attention, is Anna Ahriman. She has made an incredibly impressive start to life in the WFWF and I've gotta say, I'm so excited to watch her compete tonight. To see another young talent who has the potential and drive to really make this promotion better. I'm so excited to see her go out there and prove everybody wrong.
And I really do hope, that people are excited to see me go out there next week, and prove people wrong. Excited to see me, because I am proving every time I step in that ring, that I am a fantastic athlete, capable of pushing this sport forward. I hope people are excited to see that. But if people are just interested, because they want to see a blood feud, because they want to see a violent struggle between two men who hate each, my advice is don't bother. Go and watch XWA, you can get your fix of Jerry Springer bulls*** starring Trace Demon right there. The Supreme Gauntlet is about wrestling. Going out there and doing everything you can to win, because you love the sport, because you want to be the best.
That's what this promotion needs to be about, and wrestlers or 'fans' who don't buy into that, need to be shown the door.
Daniel Knight: Strong words from Joe Bishop, throwing some support behind Hugh Jass and throwing Trace Demon under the bus at the same time.
Alecia Matthews: Well as you’ll have just heard, and if you’ve been following WFWF.COM as you should be, Austin Hayes has handed in his notice and in a sign of sportsmanship that you don’t often see in the WFWF Hugh Jass has refused to take the forfeit victory or points in the Supreme Gauntlet.
Daniel Knight: That’s all well and respectable but come on, a point is a point, especially for someone like Jass who hasn’t got any yet. The kid’s a fool.
Alecia Matthews: I wouldn’t expect you to understand Daniel. Well one match that definitely will be taking place will be the upcoming return of WFWF Hall of Famer Reverend Shadow, who’ll be taking on Tyson Watts, who impressed in a losing effort against Brandon Bison last week.
Daniel Knight: I’ll just say it, Watts is going to get murdered. Maybe literally, Reverend Shadow is a creepy guy.
Reverend Shadow shows little emotion entering a WFWF ring for the first time in years, whereas Tyson Watts is a ball of energy, keep to get a win in his second match. The two share similar styles so it’s no surprise to see them lock up and chain wrestle to start things off. Perhaps a bit more surprisingly it’s Watts that gets the upper hand as he takes Shadow down with a headlock takedown. Shadow fights out of it and as they both scramble to their feet it’s apparent that the veteran is taking this a little more seriously now. He goes in hard, striking out at Watts with some stiff blows, taking him down and working over the lower back. Shadow goes for a backbreaker but Watts manages to slip out and hits some swift strikes to the body before going for the uppercut. The Rev counters and drives his knee up into the mid-section, before slipping around and hitting a big German suplex. Straight back to the back by Shadow as he wears Watts down, but the newcomer won’t go down without a fight. He lashes out with a running elbow and then the Alabama Slam before attempting to take a recipe out of The Rev’s cookbook as he goes for the Sharpshooter. It’s a rookie error though, Shadow knows the move inside and out and quickly slips out of Watts grip before dropping him to the mat with Alpha before locking in Omega, showing Watts exactly how it’s done. Despite Tyson Watts best efforts there’s nowhere for him to go and he’s forced to tap out!
Christa Adina: And your winner… Reverend Shadow!
Alecia Matthews: Tyson Watts put up a hell of a fight but Reverend Shadow proving there that he’s not lost a step.
Daniel Knight: With Shadow and Scarlett Quinn back, and Phillip Schneider and Michael Kyzer still hanging around in the shadows, the WFWF main event scene is certainly getting a shake up.
Alecia Matthews: Well speaking of Phillip Schneider, it sounds like we’ve actually got a few words from him.
Daniel Knight: Well that was well timed, wasn’t it.
From the arena, we cut away to a remote location. Apparently an office of some sort. A variety of collectibles line the walls, horror memorabilia, action figures, WFWF memorabilia. It quickly becomes apparent who's home office this is, the one and only WFWF Hall of Famer, Phillip Schneider. In the center of the room, a large leather covered office chair quickly spins around, Schneider seated comfortably in it.
Phillip Schneider: Good evening wrestling fans. This Ultimate Gauntlet sure has been something, hasn't it? I say something because I'm not going to outwardly express my negative feelings about the company. Block A, with the only new wrestler of the WFWF that I know their name, Hugh Jass.. mostly disinterests me. Block B though. Block B is where the money is. And next week's Block B finale. Ante Whitner and David Brennan, to determine the Block B champion. And I'll be watching that one. As the future star does what so many others have, steps over David "Stepping Stone" Brennan. And don't forget it Ante, I'm watching. Every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take.. I'll be watching you
Schneider spins his chair as we cut to static.
Alecia Matthews: Would you be scared if you were Ante Whitner?
Daniel Knight: I’m already scared and I’m not Ante Whitner. If I was I’d be pissing myself.
Alecia Matthews: Good to know you’re such a brave guy Daniel. Well now it’s time for the first of two Supreme Gauntlet matches here tonight.
Daniel Knight: Ante Whitner has already done enough to guarantee that his match against David Brennan will be a tiebreaker, but can he build some positive momentum first by besting Dex?
Alecia Matthews: Well Dex has been extremely underwhelming in this tournament so far and has yet to pick up a win. Can he pull off what many would consider an upset against the holder of the Golden Opportunity?
As if trying to one-up Brennan’s domination last week Ante Whitner nails Dex with a roundhouse kick the moment the bell rings. The Bloodied Eagle swiftly drags the groggy former World Champion to the mat and locks in Bloody Yonkers! Dex, shocked, dazed and confused, has nowhere to go and immediately has to tap out!
Christa Adina: The winner… Ante Whitner!
Alecia Matthews: Another hugely impressive victory for Ante Whitner who just runs straight through Dex, who has had a horrendous time in this tournament.
Daniel Knight: Does he even want to be here anymore? Doesn’t seem like it.
“Did you see it? I know, wasn’t bad if I didn’t think so myself?” Scarlett shrugs, trying to balance her phone on one hand as she cranks open a bottle of water between her legs.
“Like, I just knew coming into this that I was gonna walk away winning. What was that? Oh he totally didn’t have a chance. Not a chance at all.” Scarlett takes a sip of water and leans back. “… Yeah, I’m having a blast tonight. Yeah.”
Scarlett nods, listening intently at the other end of the call as she sits down over a production box, watching all the different wrestlers, backstage crew, and whatnot all coming and going. Some faces she had seen before, others completely new.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come back? I mean like, things seem pretty slim right now so it ought to be easy pickings for us… I know, I know- I mean, I figured, I’ve already got you here, right? Figured I’d give it one last shot?”
-cough- -cough-
Scarlett’s eyes gaze upwards for a moment and suddenly, the Princess of Wrestling finds herself startled.
“Penny? Lemme call you back”.
A quick camera turn reveals the presence of none other than former foe and mentor, Trace Demon.
“Please”, Trace shrugs, holding out his hand. “Don’t let me interrupt your call. When I knew you had finished your match, I just thought I’d come by and give you a nice, warm, welcome.”
Scarlett says nothing.
“Oh don’t be like that”, Trace grins, leaning closer. “You know more than I do that it was only a matter of time before we bumped into each other. I mean, look at me, it’s rather unavoidable.”
Scarlett says nothing and Trace lets out a small, little chuckle.
“You’re better than that, kid” Trace says, putting a hand on Scarlett’s shoulder. “Besides, it would be incredibly naive for you to think that we weren’t going to bump into each other sooner or later- but then again, naïve is the Scarlett Quinn I do remember.”
Scarlett pushes Trace’s hand off her shoulders and the two each other stare each other down.
“Have fun here, Princess.” Trace grins. “It’s only a matter of time before our paths cross and you sure as hell know that-”
-cough cough-
Trace looks up and Scarlett turns around as the camera now reveals the presence of WFWF Hall of Famer and former World Champion, Wayne McGurk.
“You and me got unfinished business, Demon.”, Wayne says.
Wayne and Trace lock eyes as Trace pushes himself closer to Wayne. “Not tonight, Wayne ole’ boy… Not tonight.”
Wayne crosses his arms and smiles. “Good luck out there.”
“Oh, I’m not the one you should be telling that to”, Trace chuckles, walking away. “Something tells me that Anna won’t be making it out alive once I’m done with her.”
Trace Demon walks away, leaving Wayne and Scarlett with a very sour look on their eyes.
“Assh*le.”, Scarlett hisses.
“I’ll get him one day…”.
Alecia Matthews: An interesting interaction between Trace Demon and Scarlett Quinn, you know it’s just a matter of time before they square off again.
Daniel Knight: What about that tease by Wayne McGurk, how long until he’s back inside a WFWF ring?
Alecia Matthews: You might have a long wait Daniel, but one match we will be seeing is tonight’s main event as Trace Demon, who has booked himself a tiebreaker against Joe Bishop, looks to keep his undefeated record in the Supreme Gauntlet against Anna Ahriman.
Daniel Knight: And as Trace just alluded to, this could be a rough time for Anna Ahirman.
As if he’s got some point to prove Trace Demon charges Anna as the bell rings, clattering into her with a jumping knee. Demon doesn’t even pause to breath as he’s on top of the young newcomer with rights and lefts, then drives his elbow repeatedly into the side of her skull. The official pulls him off of her and it becomes clear that one of the elbows hit a little too hard as blood trickles down from Anna’s forehead. The official seems prepared to call for the bell but Anna grabs him by the trouser leg, pulls herself up via the official and tells him no. He reluctantly lets the match continue which really is poor officiation as Anna stumbles around the ring. Trace keeps up the assault, backing her into a corner and driving his knee into the mid-section repeatedly. He backs up and charges at Anna… only for the young Ahriman to catch him with a boot to the jaw. Trace drops to his knee, nursing his jaw, while Anna swiftly goes up and hits a middle rope Tramp Stamp to the lower back, the crowd cheering as Demon goes down. The groggy and bloodied Anna capitalises with the Crown Royal and then leans against the rope as she waits for Trace to rise… Triple-A! But she’s too out of it to put her weight behind it and Trace holds her by the knees in mid-air, lifting her up and dropping her backwards, face first onto the metal bar of the turnbuckle! Anna drops like a rock, blood now streaming down her face, and Trace pushes the official away, yanks her off of the turnbuckle and double underhooks the arm, dropping her with the Demonstration of Hell. Trace pushes Anna’s legs over her head, making the cover in the most degrading fashion possible.

Christa Adina: And your winner… Trace Demon!
Trace stays in the position a few seconds longer than necessary, smirking as he rolls off of Anna. The official dives in to check on her while Demon mimes smoking a cigarette, satisfied at his handiwork.
Alecia Matthews: That was disgusting, there was no need for that, none at all!
Daniel Knight: That’s what happens when a rookie gets in the ring with a veteran with a point to prove. Doesn’t help that she’s Ahriman’s kid, this was never going to be a fair fight.
Alecia Matthews: But come on? That pin? You can’t justify that?
Daniel Knight: I don’t have to justify anything for Trace Demon, I’m sure he’ll do it himself soon enough.
Trace Demon rolls out of the ring, grabs the nearest camera with both hands and smirks as he speaks directly to it.
Trace Demon: I told you she was f**cked!
He laughs psychotically to himself as he shoves the camera away and throws the bird to a few vocal fans in the front row, the King of Demons rolling back into the ring and ascending the turnbuckle, throwing his arms out wide, ready for next week.
Ready for Joe Bishop.
