The high school football season for me officially starts August 1st.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum played/plays football in high school. If so, what position did you play?
I am the starting left tackle for my team. I'm going into my junior year, and last year I played 6 games before tearing my acl. I'm kinda nervous to get back out their but I did good in camp.
Hopefully the scholarships come rolling in. Lol.

Its been 15 years since I last suited up for HS football (16 since our State Championship) It literally feels like it was yesterday. My body doesnt feel like it was yesterday though. Its crazy to think in 2000 we won the schools 5th State Title and this past December the team won the schools 14th State Title. Talk about a hot streak huh?

I tried out for the football team during the summer of 2005 (right before my freshman year). I was about 6'0, weighed 250lbs, and my friend (and classmate) thought it would be great if I tried out. My school (Bergen Catholic) is incredibly prolific when it comes to High School football and I knew it would be a rough summer.
I literally had no clue how rough it would be. I was no good, slow, not at all coordinated. Plus, practice was miserable. I'll never forget one particular day: our field is situated next to a home and these little brats that lived there would CONSTANTLY throw garbage onto our field. At the end of every practice, the coach would make us clean the field. On this day, we finished up but those bastards threw more garbage and my coach flipped out on the team for not cleaning it up. He made us get on the turf and do these dog crawl exercises. We basically had to crawl on our hands with a leg up or something stupid like that. Anyways, touch the turf felt like touching a frying pan. I remember my teammates screaming in agony and our QB was telling us to take off our shirts and use them to cover our hands (we put our equipment away since practice was over). I remember reaching for my shirt and feeling brutal pain in my hand. I looked at my hand and literally a layer of my skin burnt right off. I went to the hospital and my coach got into a crap ton of trouble but, of course, didn't get fired over the incident.
I ended up not making the team because, again, I was horrible. BUT I did make a crap ton of friends, I knew most of my classmates going into school, and it ended up being totally worth it.

I had to help chase a goat off the field one night...during a game....we played in some podunk ass redneck places sometimes.

I'm so ready for school to start, so I can get back to photographing high school football. 2 of our 4 schools played for a state championship last year, so expectations are high.

Is there any sporting event you don't cover mate? Not really. If it's a high school sport, we cover it. We have 2 private catholic schools who also have hockey teams & that's quickly becoming my second favorite sport to shoot behind football. But when I'm shooting pro wrestling, that's just me freelancing on the side. Some days when I'm shooting, I can't believe I get paid to do this haha.

I played. My freshman year, the freshman team went undefeated and I was the fastest receiver on the team. I had a few touchdowns. The varsity team also was undefeated and went to my schools first ever super bowl. They lost. My sophomore year I was junior varsity. We were probably even wins and losses. Not a very eventful season. The varsity team finished 9-1 and just missed a trip to the super bowl. My junior year I was projected to play a lot on the varsity team but I broke my wrist in the first preseason game. All season was just recovering from that. I played the last two JV games of he year and finished strong. The varsity team finished 5-4-1. My senior year I began as a starting wide receiver. By the third or fourth game I had been surpassed by a much faster kid who honestly was much better than me. Our team finished undefeated and we won our schools first ever Super Bowl. We ended up ranked #2 in our state. It was a fun ride. I played on all special teams

I played Defensive Tackle and bounced around on the offensive line in high school. I really enjoyed it, but I wrecked my knee early in my junior year and it never really recovered and I didn't play again.

Didn't play football (mainly because of my slender and scrawny body type), but I enjoy going to the games sometimes. When the kids are blasted drunk and high, that's when it's a little too much. Cops had to show up at one of the games two years ago and a couple of kids from my school and the opposing school got arrested.

My local high school football team always loses anymore since I left high school. Last year I think they won 1-2 games

Keep your head up man. 1-3 could turn into 7-3 and a playoff spot. If you've allowed 0 sacks, it sounds like you're leading by example. Hopefully the rest of the team gets on board and you guys start winning.

Last year I got hurt along with our qb, mlb, and 2nd wr and missed the playoffs.
