I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has fond memories of the Dreamcast. I used to love playing on my older brother's DC, and I'm in the middle of doing a little project based on 'games of the year' which I'll eventually post to my DeviantArt page. While doing it, I suddenly realized how I had no (legal) access to some of my favorite games of all time. I've been contemplating going back and getting my own Dreamcast for a few years now, and I finally did it. It came last week and is in pretty great condition, with just a smudges that I could probably remove if I persevered enough, it's still beautiful and white. Now that some great games are starting to roll in I thought I'd take the opportunity to show it off.
So what are some of your favorite memories of the Dreamcast? I really want to pick up Spawn again, that was such a cool game.

Shenmue! Loved that game, I didnt leave the house for about 3 days until I completed that game. Shenmue 2 was also really good and I was sad that the franchise never got the ending it deserved. I do believe however that there was kickstarter for Shenmue 3 that got the go-ahead so Ill need to check online and see how that is progressing. Other than that I didnt really enjoy the Dreamcast.

Yeah Shenmue is absolutely on my list, probably Shenmue 2 too. But with that, I believe it was never translated (only with subtitles) on the Dreamcast.

DC was an underrated console. there is something called project dream, where a guy is trying to get a remaster console made. definetly look into that!

My older cousin had a Dreamcast when I was younger, and I used to play on it whenever we visited his house. Power Stone was far and away my favourite game on the system and it remains one of my favourites to this day.

I'll never get used to seeing that blue Dreamcast logo. lol.
There were so many great Dreamcast games... Soul Reaver, GTA 2 (it looked far better on DC than the PS1), Fire Pro Wrestling D, Dynamite Cop, Shenmue, the first UFC game, Sonic Adventure... and those are just of the top of my head. I remember sitting with my jaw dropped while watching the first stage of Sonic Adventure. It was the first next-gen experience of my life.
Also, some wonderful genius translated Fire Pro Wrestling D into English. It cab be downloaded or I found someone selling a copy burned into a disc. It even came with a pretty decent label on the disc. I'm not sure if that violates TOS or not so I won't post it here. Anyone interested can PM me if you want the link.

My understanding is that it was only released in English in Europe, but yeah, it was subtitles only. We didn't even get it in America. I was so bummed when that got canceled. The original Xbox version was English language. I'm expecting HD remakes of the first two games around the time that part 3 comes out.

I really liked the Dreamcast I was lucky enough to get one close to launch. I got the console, Sonic Adventure and Power Stone. Shortly after I got Soul Calibur and I must have put about 20 hours into it that first weekend. As great as the first few games I had for the system were. It was when Resident Evil Code Veronica came out that I was like holy crapthis is a new generation. The only thing I did not like about the Dreamcast was the controller. Still after all these years I think it is a horribly designed controller. 1 analogue stick and a cord that comes out at the bottom, who the hell thought that was a good idea and that little groove they have in the back to hold the wire does not cut it!
Anyway my personal favourite games for the system are.
Soul Calibur Zombie Revenge Resident Evil Code Veronica Sonic Adventure 2 Royal Rumble Power Stone Dynamite Cop Street Fighter Alpha 3

Since I made this thread, I bought Shenmue and Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. Shenmue's brilliance almost goes without saying, and Jedi Power Battles has held up really well. SO much fun 2 players! I would also like to mention Jet Set Radio on the dream cast. Never got to play it but I've made a thread on it and the sequel but I've heard it was awesome Jet Set Radio was pretty good IIRC. Didn't play it too much but it's something that's on my list.

In my 41 years of gaming it was by far my favorite gaming system ! From the controller to being my first online experience with 2k football and if I recalled 2k sports really made EA sports rethink their arcade like sports games like NHL and Triple Play baseball .
Great memories but I dont think I could ever go back as I like the latest and greatest in gaming systems and never keep anything dated but its cool you can still appreciate it .
