Running late to the gym for my 3rd workout of the day with my trainer and confidant, Sean.
"I thought you had enough," Sean says jokingly as I walk into the gym. "I didn't think you were coming."
"Running late that's all," I reply as I walk by, practically not acknowledging him.
"What's up?" He asks concerned. He must sense something's wrong.
"Just upset," I tell him as I drop my bag and have a seat on the weight bench. "I had been planning on starting my own youth football league as a way to give back. But ever since that incident at the convenient stop, I've been having a hard time finding volunteers."
Sean takes a deep breath and shakes his head as I start my lifting.
"Ever since I lost my cool it seems like nobody wants anything to do with me." I say as I continue my workout. "I never should've let those punks get to me."
"Shapiro, focus," Sean tells me as he spots me.
"And of course there's always that one person that has to record it with their phone and put it on the internet," I continue bitterly,"If it wasn't for that, this wouldn't even be an issue for me."
“You have to get your mind off that crap,” Sean tells me. “You need to focus on your upcoming fatal four-way at Nowhere To Run."
"No worries," I reply dejected as I finish my first set on the bench press. "I doubt I could do any worse than I did at No Remorse."
"Awe, c'mon," he says, "you were up against stiff competition in Trace Demon. You're just being hard on yourself."
“Yeah well things didn’t end too well for me,” I tell him as I shake my head in embarrassment, “I respect and appreciate Josh Dean having my back but it’s embarrassing taking an L like that.”
“Like I said, stiff competition." He assures me.
“Easier said than done,” I reply as I lay back down on the bench to start another set.
"The best thing you can do at this point is shake it off," he advises me.
"It's hard to come back any time you've been carried out of the arena," I tell him.
“So what? You're pissed at Dean?” He wonders. “Did you not want his help out there? Would you rather he let Trace end your career, because we both know he would've if it wasn't for Dean.”
“Nah, it's nothing like that. Me and Dean, we’re cool, “ I inform him as I sit back up, “ I thanked him after he helped me to the locker room. We’ve been keeping in touch since then. He has my back and I have his.“
"So you took a loss," Sean continues trying to repair my pride,"It happens to the best of us. It's not the loss that defines you, it's how you respond to it."
There's a quiet moment between the 2 of us as I reflect on the latest turn of events.
"You know what, I'm just gonna take the rest of the day off," I tell him, breaking the silence, as I stand. "I just need to get myself together."
Sean nods his head in agreement, "Just remember; Trevor Wolf, Mike Jette and Seiry Shimizu are all relatively new, you're the vet in the ring for once at Nowhere To Run. It's time to make a statement."
Sean's right; it's not the loss that'll define me, it's how I respond. I am the Hope Dealer and I refuse to let one little setback destroy my confidence. Trace knocked me down and he knocked me down good, but I sure as hell am not gonna stay down. At Nowhere To Run, I will rise again.

Fall down seven times, stand up eight.
