I imagine that contract will come back to bite the Sox in the ass... like most big-name FA signings.
Saying that, I still want the Phillies to end up with Jason Heyward.

With Happ gone I really want the Pirates to take a chance on Lincecum, if he's affordable.

6 years, $206M for Greinke. Damn.
Did NOT see Arizona pulling out the money for him. Welp, should be interesting to see how that goes this season.

Samardzija signs with the Giants. 5 year, $90 million deal. Another pitcher out of the Dodger's list, not sure I would be interesated in him.

With Happ gone I really want the Pirates to take a chance on Lincecum, if he's affordable. Do you want the pirates to keep or trade melancon? That's tough. He was the best closer in baseball this season, and he's only 30. But if we can get a decent first baseman for him from a team that needs a closer and maybe has a good 1B in AAA, I would do a trade. With Walker all but gone, or at least everyone including the team coming to terms with that, it looks like Kang will switch to 3B, they'll sign Mercer long term for SS and move Harrison to 2B; and since we released El Torro and don't seem to be resigning Rodruiguez, we need a 1B before it becomes a supermassive black hole like it has been for years (minus the whole two months we had Lee in 2011). So I'd be willing to trade him for a 1B and move Hughes to closer.

Samardzija is like 20 games under .500 for his career. In what kind of world do we live in where those types of players get almost $100 million dollar deals? At least back in the day when the Yankees were spending out their ass it was got the best of the best of the best. Crappy and mediocre players are starting to get the type of money that the ELITE used to get and the ELITE are getting $30 millon per year.

David Price is gonna opt out in 3 years, there is 0% chance he stays all 7 years.
Give me 3 elite years of one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball and hope we can get a World Series in that time.
Grienke was a shock, since when do the Dodgers ****foot around big money contracts? What a disaster. Dbacks are gonna be sneaky good
Lackey is just what the Cubs needed, they have the Cy Young, they have arguably the best #2 pitcher in baseball and now a guy with 2 rings.
Jordan Zimmermann will be a bust, bad year last year, bad defense aside from Iglesias...good luck dude. Tigers will be better tho.
4 years for O'day is silly

From what I heard they offered Grienke less years and way less money, so I don't think they really wanted him back. I think they want to be like the Yankees. Young talent and lower the luxury tax, which I think it is over 43 million.

Not wanting back the guy who could've/should've won the Cy Young woulda been a terrible decision.

I know the Giants are desperate for starting pitching but there's no way in hell they think singing Samardzija to 5 years is a good deal. I could live with the dollar amount per seasons if it was 3 years(still way too much but acceptable)but 5 damn years is an eternity in sports. Insane.
