As I noted in the "official" thread, big disappointment from The Bridge Direct. Only four new figures? I'm stoked to see NXT guys, but I figured they'd get on the bandwagon and show us a Total Divas set, or at least somebody else new. What has been shown are several perfect examples of everything The Bridge Direct does wrong.
The Blind Bags have one new figure and eleven retreads. Why? We have seen several prototypes of other superstars. Why not put them in the blind bags? The Ascension would be great, as you would get the fun of hunting down both tag team members. How about some Legends? Ric Flair? Roddy Piper? Shawn Michaels? Mid-carders like Bo Dallas, Fandango, Adam Rose? They could even release The Bunny! Anything but eleven retreads.
As far as the Smackdown Ring set goes, people have gone out of their way to find the Sting blind bag figure, so you can't make him the only new figure in the ring set. In fact, there should be more than three figures. And more than one new figure. As it stands, this set is going to take the place of the Raw Ring in the clearance aisle.
Will Dean Ambrose's Entrance be a store exclusive? If so, why torpedo that idea by releasing a single-packed figure of him too? Why package him with two repaints? Why not add a new figure to the set to make it worth it to buy the single and the Entrance set? The same thing could be said for the Hall & Nash two-pack vs. the NWO three-pack.
Why am I always left with the impression that I could do a better job running The Bridge Direct than The Bridge Direct's actual management? They seem to lack a very basic business sense.
Bridge Direct, I want you to do well. I really do. I love the Stackdown figures. You just really need to think these things through a little more.
Then again, Wicked Cool Toys is releasing their "Micro Maulers" as blind bags. Unpainted, unarticulated blind-bagged figures. And there are twenty-seven to collect. Who makes these decisions?
