Ok this is kind of a read to set up the question but stick with me. I went recent to an estate sale and found a jersey that was worn by the player, no COA or anything with it but the story seemed legit and I collect football jerseys so I kind of knew some things to look for. I got it at a great price. I found a company that can authenticicate and the guy told me it sounded and looked good based on pics I sent him but he needed the jersey in person and it costs 135 to authenticicate and check. I was 90% sure this was the real deal but had that 10% of doubt just to not overhype myself. So I told someone if they give me 80$ for the authentication and it's real I will give them 200$ back. If it's fake I lose out and they do too. Would you take that deal? It's basically a gamble the way I saw it.

Really depends on the player. If were talking like a higher-caliber player, then yeah. But if were talking something along the lines of a Michael Olowokandi Clippers jersey, then maybe not. Unless that player is one of your favorites, then go for it man. I'd actually get an Olowokandi T'wolves jersey.

Worth a shot if the jersey will be worth a decent amount.

Mind saying who it is? Would really help to answer the question.

It was a nick fotiu Rangers jersey. I was 90% sure it was real and told a family member if they give me 80$ towards the COA authentication and it's real I'll give them 200$ back if it's fake they lose the money. They called it a crapty deal and it wasn't worth it

like others have said i guess it depends on who the player is, and the actual worth if it is authentic

Nope.
I'd buy it on it's own merits with what can be proven/established. I'm ok with just the story and not being 100% sure... unless I was going to resell it. However, I'd want to make sure that whoever authenticates it is from a legit dealer/company/whatever.
