Or two faces for that matter?
I've noticed that WWE hasnt done a heel vs. heel or face vs. face match of note in a long time. Does anyone miss such matches?
I know that I do. I get the traditional heel vs. face match is the standard solution for feuds, but especially in terms of going after a champion wouldnt everyone want to fight the champion regardless? I'll use an example currently going on. At some point wouldn't Randy Orton want to be the WWE Champion instead of waiting for Brock to lose the title? It'd be a killer match, it'd be a fresh feud and I think an interesting storyline.
Instead, if Brock wins tonight we'll probably get Big Show vs. Lesnar or Cena vs. Lesnar for the fourth time at HIAC.
Thoughts?

I watched Orton vs Edge from Raw 2007 a few days ago and that was Heel vs Heel. Great match and yes i do miss Heel vs Heel matches. And as you say they are something fresh and unique and would make sense especially when there is a belt up for grabs.

Actually, I think it's written in Japanese on Hakushi.

Another great heel vs. heel match was Christopher Daniels vs. Desmond Wolfe in 09. Was a great match, but ended in no contest due to TNA's stupid rules back then. -.-

The crowd doesn't typically respond well to Heel V. Heel or Face V. Face matches because it tries to force them to pick a side when they don't want to.

The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family was initially a heel vs. heel program, was it not?

Tell me fans wouldn't react to Orton vs Lesnar
Heel vs Heel
That wouldn't be epic?

The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family was initially a heel vs. heel program, was it not? IIRC, that was really the beginning of The Shield's run as a face.

Last year's World Heavyweight Championship money in the bank match was an all heel match.

Tell me fans wouldn't react to Orton vs Lesnar Heel vs Heel That wouldn't be epic? Seeing as Randy is hardly over after his terribly booked title reign, I'd tell you no, that wouldn't be. Not to mention the promos would be atrocious. Heyman would be the only good part of the feud if it happened.

Tell me fans wouldn't react to Orton vs Lesnar Heel vs Heel That wouldn't be epic? The matches would be solid that much is true. But the fans are already uncertain of whether they want to boo Lesnar because of the Streak or cheer him because of him ing up Cena. I think you put those two in the ring and the crowd will go mild... you never know for sure unless they try it though.

I think Orton vs Lesnar would deliver in the ring....but I can see interest being quite low in it unless Orton turned face and got some kind of a uber push where he was made to look like he could frustrate Lesnar with unorthodox tactics or something.....
Y'know?

Tell me fans wouldn't react to Orton vs Lesnar Heel vs Heel That wouldn't be epic? Only if Orton was booked correctly. His recent title reign and current heel run, he's been booked like crap.

It wouldn't work.
For example, most people will back up Orton over Lesnar. Thus making Orton the semi-face/tweener vs. heel Lesnar.

I believe it was written in the Book of Kayfabe, Dusty: 7:19either that or the Heenan Family Bible, though shalt only break this evil brotherly bond during Royal Rumbles, tag matches that require multiple eliminations, or multiple man matches with one face present - thus, starting with an accidental strike, or anger & pride in who doth get thy pin

WrestleMania 28 and 29 were both headlined by face vs face matches.
Undertaker's WrestleMania matches since 2007 have mostly been face vs face.
The Shield vs Wyatts was heel vs heel.
Top level heel vs heel matches are hard to do, because the crowd aren't really behind either guy so they tend not to have any heat unless they're kept rare and done really well, like Shield vs Wyatts -- and even that was really the Shield's face turn. They do heel vs heel matches more regularly on TV, particularly with guys who don't matter and can be used as heels or faces -- Fandango, Bo Dallas, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel etc. Although Seth Rollins vs Heath Slater was on Raw recently.
As for why heels are friends, it's because they all love nefarious schemes and screwing over the babyfaces. That's why a dozen of them helped Yokozuna bury Undertaker.
