“Have any of you seen Lila around here?”
Dave Demento had just been through a fight inside the confines of a fifteen foot high steel cage against a very violent and very focused Joe Bishop who had the intention of destroying the new champion. But after the dust has settled, and a post match attack, Dave Demento had now finally settled down from the adrenaline rush and has now focused on finding the person who brought him back to this company so he could achieve his dream without being pulled back by others.
“Yeah, she should be in her office,” replied a familiar voice from behind some stage equipment, “Got a date or something?”
And out comes Randel Benjamin with his headset on and a grin on his face. He bounces his eyebrows and gives a nudge to his longtime protege, before pointing down the hall. As big Dave starts walking to the office, Randel joins right beside him.
“Congrats out there, man.” started Randel, “And to think I wanted to stop you from competing.”
“And I’m glad you listened when I told you I was fine.”
“You didn’t leave me any choice,” shot back the mentor, “I know how badly you wanted this but your health is our number one priority. We here at the WFWF don’t want any of our talents to risk further injury by competing while they are not one hundred percent…”
Demento stopped dead in his tracks as he glares over to his buddy with a very sarcastic smile on his face.
“Wow,” started Demento continuing with his grin, “The baldness, the age and now the slimming down, you aren’t Randel Benjamin anymore. I think you’ve turned into Xavier Pierce.”
“Hey, I’m a lot smarter and a lot sexier than Piercy, baby.” shot back Benjamin with a huge belly laugh.
As the two turn the corner, they are joined by, one of the members of the Saviors of Salvation, Penny Shannon with a Mountain Dew in one hand and a joint in the other. She still had her head taped up from the violent encounter she fought through against Devilkiller earlier in the night.
“How come I thought you’d be coming down this hallway?” blurt out the Velocity Grrrl, putting her finger on top of her dimple on her cheek, “Wait? You’re not coming to see Lila are ya?”
Penny took a drag and puffed out the smoke as she and Randel laughed at big Dave’s expense. They had begun to think that Dave has a crush on the current General Manager, and maybe he did. But he certainly wouldn’t tell them right now. What he wanted to do so badly in Lila’s office was something not many people would do to the current person in charge of a major wrestling company…
“Come on guys, I just want to thank her.” responded Demento, with a red tint forming in his cheeks, “She did help me out there, you guys saw that.”
“I just want to thank her,” mocked Benjamin with a laugh.
“She did help me out there,” finished Penny with a loud sarcastic undertone.
“I’m being serious, all I want to do his shake her hand and thank her.” Demento replied with the most serious look on his face.
“And then later tonight, when you’re laying in bed all alone, you will remember that hand. And with that thought in your mind, you will reach down underneath your bed and you will grab something grippy. You will then use that to your advantage as you remember you thanking her as she replies in her sweetest tone…” continued Benjamin with a sick smile on his face.
Dave looked straight into his eyes with a real concerned look on his face, “Randy, you do realize you’re talking about your boss, right? The woman who gives you a paycheck that helps you feed yourself and your wife. If she hears you saying all this, your ass is grass dude.”
“Shhh,” Penny shot out quietly, “I think I hear someone on the other side of the corner.”
All three of them propped themselves onto the wall as they waited to see who would turn the corner. All of their eyes breathed a sigh of relief as the couple of Josh Dean and Nikki Dean had joined them in the hallway. Nikki had her newly won WFWF National Championship secured firmly around her waist as Josh had the International belt in his hands.
“Backstage crew told me they were finished polishing it,” started Josh as he handed big Dave his belt, “I was there with Nikki, so I thought I might as well have brought it to you.”
“How did you know he was going to be here?” shot Penny, with a eyebrow cocked into the air.
“Well Dave did tell us he was going to look for Lila,” started Josh before being cut off by Penny.
“So, you told them you were going to find Lila but you didn’t tell me?” Penny sarcastically started pouting and crossing her arms in a childish manner, “And I thought we were friends Dave.”
“Oh cut it out.” shot back Demento as he hoisted his championship belt onto his shoulders, “You were out blazing somewhere, I couldn’t find you to tell you. You know I would’ve told you.”
Penny nodded her head in agreement as she gave big Dave a hug and shouted out sarcastically, “I’m sorry Davey.”
“It looks weird with only two of us having belts,” shot out Nikki as she rubbed her plate, “Why don’t you two ask for a tag titles shot or something?”
Randel looked back over to Dave with a grin, “I’m sure Dave can get you one. Y’know, when he’s in his meeting with Lila.”
Demento looked back at his friend, shot him the evil eye and turned his attention back to his stablemates. Earlier in the night, the four superstars cracked open a bottle left in a bathroom stall and accepted the challenge to protect the wrestling business from the groups of people who want to hurt this sport that everybody loves so much. These four are the Saviors of Salvation, the SOS that the world of professional wrestling needs.
“I know of a place around here that has some great food,” shot out Josh, “We’ve all had a long night. Why don’t we just grab our stuff and go?”
“I’m in.” replied Penny almost immediately.
“And I go wherever you go sweetie.” added Nikki.
“I can eat anytime.” grunted the huge Benjamin while rubbing his stomach.
“How about you Dave? You in?” questioned Josh as the others started heading back to the locker room to grab their stuff from the night.
Dave thought about what he had wanted to do with Lila ever since the conclusion of the epic steel cage match and after being attended to by the medical staff following a very cheap attack from the man he bested. Dave wanted to see Lila so badly and thank her for everything, but with his championship slung over his shoulder and looking directly at his buddy Josh, he had made his decision for the night. “Yeah. I’m in.”

DAVE DEMENTO
IN
OLD SECRETS AND NEW BEGINNINGS
A GRUDGE ROLEPLAY
-----|-----
Ever since the final bell of the brutal cage match with Bishop, people have been everywhere asking me how my head has been. How bad does my body hurt? How in the world did I beat the guy pegged to be the next big thing with a handicap on my side?
It was a hard fought battle and I will give credit to where credit is due. Bishop took me to my limit. In no shape or form can I downright say that I dominated him, because I didn’t. It was back and forth throughout the whole match and he almost put me down quite a few times. He almost had me pinned for the one, two and three in the middle of that ring.
But was he successful? Did he accomplish what he wanted to accomplish?
No.
During that match, the concussion brought me down. At times, I didn’t know where I was or what I was doing. You could even say that I wasn’t fully there during most of the match. But I pulled out the victory using heart, dedication and a never say die attitude.
I hope all of you took notice on how hard I fought during that match. How much pain I endured during the bout. How much blood I lost during the entire duration of Bishop and I going at it like two caged animals. Because I did all of that to win the International championship.
Imagine what I am going to do to defend it.

“How does it feel, dude?” let out Penny as she lounged back on the sofa sipping on her Mountain Dew.
“Uhh…” started big Dave sitting at the desk staring into his laptop, “What are you talking about?”
“How does it feel being a champion?” shot back Penny with a smirk on her face, “I’ve never actually tasted gold in this fed.”
Dave turned his chair around and focused on Penny who had now grabbed ahold of the International championship from the table, “You’ll have your time, don’t worry.”
“Yeah, I guess.” replied Penny as she embraced the title, as if she had just won it in front of twenty thousand screaming fans at Madison Square Garden, sort of like how Dave did it. “So many people I have hung out with have won gold and I just have had to sit there and watch them and be by their side.”
“You’re talking about Scarlett, aren’t ya?” questioned Dave as he now made his way onto the other side of the couch, “You won’t be able to hide from that part of your life much longer. It will all come to a crossroads.”
Penny shot him a glare as she then looked down to ground while rubbing her arm, “I know, I know. I wanna fix things but I don’t, y’know dude?”
Dave nodded his head in agreement, “I know all too well.”
Penny brought her attention back over to Dave as she puts the championship back onto the coffee table beside the couch. “What happened to ya, dude?”
“It’s a long story, a really long story.” replied Dave as he had now turned the television on.
“You wanna talk about it?”
“Ehhh… Not really.” answered Demento. This led to a very long and awkward pauses in the conversation. The kind of awkward pauses where you want to say something but you’re unsure of what to say. Fortunately, this was stopped as Dave got up from the couch and headed towards the kitchen as he pulls out a beer from the fridge.
“You want one?"
Penny raised her bottle of Mountain Dew and leaned back on the couch, "Are you sure you don't wanna talk about it? It kinda looks like there's a lot on your mind."
"I've had a lot of stuff go on a long time ago and eventually I'll have to face it head on." answered Dave as he has now returned to his spot on the couch.
"Whatever it seems, you sure seem ready for it.", Penny said, pulling out a joint from the pouch of her hoodie. "Hey, you mind if I light this?"
"Yeah, go ahead." shot back Demento has he lifted his leg onto the couch, "It's been bothering me a lot lately. Seeing Josh and Nikki with their kids."
Penny lit the joint and puffed away. "And that bothers you why?"
Dave looked around the room before finally turning his attention back to Penny, "I was involved with the wrong people at nineteen. I made some bad decisions in my life. Some things that I've been running from since then. And as I get older, I've realized that it was wrong to just run away."
"Oh, hun.", Penny sighed as she exhaled a pull and passed the joint to Big Dave, wrapping her arm around his shoulder. "It's not wrong. It's stupid, but it's not wrong. Like as much as it sucks for me to say, there are just somethings that aren't worth taking on when you aren't ready, which you clearly weren't if you ran away from it. So it's cool."
"Is it cool when there's a kid in play?" answered Dave as he handed Penny back to the joint and brought his face into his hands.
"No...", Penny sighed, taking another hit as she turned her head and exhaled. "What the hell happened back then anyway?"
"Well, have you ever realized I haven't smoked any of your joints?" replied Dave. "Back during those times, I was at a very rough part of my life. It was that care free, don't give two sh*ts part of my teenage life. I was really into this chick and we hit it off. A few hours later her bed was rocking and I was enjoying life. That is until she arrived at my doorway with the pregnancy tester in her hand. And guess what it read?"
"Oh snap!", Penny giggled. "I'm an aunt?!"
"I appreciate you trying to liven up the mood," revealed Dave, "But I f*cked up big time. After she left my doorstep, I hopped on a bike and just drove off into the wind. Stopping wherever I could to eat and to sleep and that's how I made it here in Toronto. Land of opportunity. Not soon after that I got into wrestling and met Randel where he guided my ass. I needed that guidance. But Penny?"
"Yeah?" Penny closed her eyes and continued smoking her joint, her head turned away as she seemed to be taking in what Big Dave just revealed to her to heart. "So, what are you going to do about it?"
"I don't really know Penny. I want to cross that bridge and go back and see her. But her life has probably been so perfect without me." answered Dave with his face still in his hands. "I just needed to get this out of me. It's been fourteen years in the making."
"You want some company?", Penny asked, smiling now.
"Yeah sure, I have a spare room back there." replied Demento with a relieved smile of his own. "And can we keep what was said here between us?"
Penny pulled on the joint and chuckled. "Actually, I meant if you wanted me to come with you to Canada to find my niece, but this works too. My lease in L.A.'s been up for awhile now and I am not in the mood take my things home."
"You know what," started Dave with a smile, "Consider this home."

Things can change a lot between two events.
Last December, I captured my first championship here in the WFWF. That title was the same belt that I hold today. It was Scars and Stripes, the last event of the year 2013, and I was set to compete in the finals of the tournament to crown a new International champion.
To get into the tournament finals, I had to get through Devilkiller and Mak Cross to be one step closer to achieving a dream of mine and set my name in stone in the annals of history.
At Scars and Stripes, I faced my biggest challenge in the tournament. I stood face to face against a WFWF Hall of Famer, a former World champion, and the longest reigning International champion in his own right...
I faced and I beat Thunder.
I was the new WFWF International champion and was on top of the world. That is until I was viciously attacked by one Solomon Crow who sent me to the hospital and took my championship from me.
There I was, one second the champion. The next, a nobody.
That is what is so pure of this victory over Joe Bishop. I regained the championship I had never lost. And to top it off, I was able to stop The Final Revolution for now. Trace Demon and Joe Bishop both walked out of Madison Square Garden without a win.
But history has a weird way of repeating itself. Following my victory, I decided to go and get myself stitched up in the trainer's room. All going well, until Joe Bishop barged in and viciously attacked me.
Well Joe. I am still standing and I am still the International champion. It's going to take a lot more than you, a lead pipe and a concussion to keep me down.

Ever since the conclusion of the Battle at the Garden show, Dave Demento has been busy. Life of a champion: wake up at eight, work out for two hours, interview and public appearances for another two hours, work out for another two hours and finish it off with signings for an hour. Sometimes you sneak in an hour workout after the signings if you’re lucky.
His busy life has been interfering with the very thing he has wanted to do and that was simply to call his boss Lila Sleater and thank her for everything and possibly set up a meeting between the two. Dave wants to protect Lila’s business from the cancerous hands of the Final Revolution.
He finally had the time to settle himself and lounge on his couch and just relax following his long day of screaming pubescent adults that smelt like freaks. That’s what he lives for, even if they’re going to sell his autograph online. But now in his hands was his ticket to paradise, his proverbial keys to eden’s garden. The entry way into the hollow halls of the tropical rainforest. He had his phone and he was ready to dial the number of Lila Sleater.
And he does! The ringing continues for what seems to be ages as the sound from the telephone suddenly changes as the leader of the Demented jumps at his opportunity and uses this chance to declare loudly with his sly and cool voice.
“Hey Lila! It’s Dave calling…”
And then we get the response from the other side.
“Hi,” started her voice, “You’ve reached the office of Lila Sleater, general manager of the WFWF. Unfortunately, I can not take your call right now. But please, leave a message at the tone.”
And then there was the heart crushing beep to end it all.
“Hey Lila,” started Dave in a much somber voice, “It’s Dave here. I have a few concerns over what’s to come in the next few weeks and I was hoping we could potentially grab a coffee or grab a bite to eat to talk about it. Or we could have a meeting at the headquarters again. It’s up to you. But call me back? Peace.”

Ladies and gentleman, your new WFWF International Champion… DAVE DEMENTO!
Christa’s voice has just continued to beam in my head with that announcement ever since the end of that wild steel cage match in the middle of Madison Square Garden. The mecca of professional wrestling. The world’s most famous arena. You can name it anything, but I’ll go down in history as winning an epic cage clash at that venue, while becoming a two time International champion at the same time.
I’ve been checking in with the doctors, and this concussion, while not fully gone away, is recovering. The blurred eyes, the ringing of the ears and the dilated pupils, all of that is gone. I have a few headaches here and there, but they aren’t as bad. I really did think that the cage match was going to aggravate it. I was lucky.
I was also lucky enough to have Lila Sleater be my cavalry in the cage match. The Final Revolution tried to get away with their dirty work once again by having Jason Anders come down and interfere in the match. Following my devastating Fall of Grace maneuver, I was astonished that Anders stood back up. Albeit groggily, he did try his hand once more but Lila took care of him. Damn, she has some nice kicks too.
The wrestling world is getting it’s SOS that it dearly needs. Penny Shannon, the Dean’s and I are here to save the sport of professional wrestling from anybody who is going to try and hurt it. The Final Revolution better watch their backs. We will protect this place with our hearts and we will put our bodies on the line for the best interests of these great fans. We aren’t good people and we aren’t bad people, we are an entity.
Shapiro, you are a hell of an athlete with lots of raw potential to go far in this sport. And I don’t really have a problem with you. You will become a champion someday, trust me, I can see it in you. But the powers that be put you into the ring with me. I am just starting to write history, and you’re in my way to make it to the next chapter.
This isn’t personal Shapiro, this is business. And my business is to prove why I am the International Champion.
