- Vince McMahon was responsible for how strong John Cena was portrayed on this week's WWE RAW. Vince wrote and put together all material for Cena this week.
Vince reportedly felt that with Brock Lesnar dominating their match at SummerSlam, some of Cena's fans may lose faith in him unless he made an immediate, strong statement on RAW.

So they're going to have Cena bury a superstar each Monday so he can redeem himself from Summerslam..... That's new.

But why did it need to be Wyatt. Wouldn't someone who's a more established name make more sense?

I don't think Monday was very good at all. Bray should have escaped and just watched as Cena dropped Harper and Rowan, almost in fear/awe of Cena's intensity. It would have served a greater purpose than Cena dumping Bray because Bray is supposed to be this fear inducing character himself. Vince over reacted to circumstance imo, which is a shame. You want to build Cena's credibility each week heading into NOCs, no need to Superman him, which does nothing but turn the fans off.
Cena is, apparently, going to go to a place that he's never been before in order to beat Brock. Squashing guys is a place he's been many times before. The audience has to ask why is this Cena different than any version of Cena we've seen before? So all going back to the HBK and Cena conversation to kickoff Raw. I don't think what happened with the Wyatt's proved or reinforced that point. That's the flaw in the booking for me from Monday, and the disconnect between Vince and the audience. We need to see Cena go to a place that he's never gone before and being a vanilla babyface isn't going to cut it.
If we are to believe that this is Cena's biggest challenge ever, which is the story being told coming off of SummerSlam, then Cena absolutely has to treat this differently than any other match he's had before. So far, after only the one Raw, everything seems to be status quo. That kind of thing insults the intelligence of your audience imo. WWE told this really dominating story with Brock at SummerSlam. They set themselves up to really hammer home this compelling redemption story for Cena, and the main event on Monday didn't demonstrate continuity to that story. Damn shame, but hopefully they find more footing over the next couple of weeks.

Vince only agreed to this after Cena whined, bitched, kissed ass and repeated until Vince caved. Cenas all about himself. How weak he has made the entire Wyatt family look singlehandedly is a tragedy. Then Jericho finally gets Wyatt some momentum back and BOOM. Very next nigh Cena completely murdered that. Btw Cena is at the point now where he could lose clean to ing Heath slater and still not "lose momentum" or "look weak" it's john ing Cena. The god of wrestling. The superman. He can lose and not look bad because of how much he has won over the years. But no, let's make Cena look even more godlike because he got beat up by a legitimate beast. Go away Cena please just ig go away.

I wish it was Sheamus or Big Show instead. Why not both? In a retirement match.

Unlike most people here, I like Cena. But I like the Wyatt's a whole lot more, hell, Bray is my favorite wrestler, I just ing hated RAW so much because of that.
