Yup. I'm curious about where it originated, did Jeremy or someone else involved with Jakks at the time start it when the realscan figures started? I don't think I've ever seen it ever used outside of wrestling figures, it's like it's some weird term that's only used by people who come here. I just googled "action figure" "headscan" and all the results (on the first few pages of results at least, I didn't check beyond that) were about wrestling figures so it must just be some weird thing that started on here... And yet, there must be s**tloads of other action figure lines that use scanning technology, but collectors of them haven't take on this odd "headscan" and "scan" terminology for headsculpts that we do here. When Gentle Giant started scanning guys in 2000, I remember the heads being referred to as "head scans" in magazines like ToyFare and on various websites. People were using that term looooooong before we ever met Jeremy. That's very bizarre. Perhaps it was some attempt at new terminology and it just died everywhere except here because of its inaccuracy. I just googled Gentle Giant and head scan (and headscan) and the only instances I can find of figure heads being called "scans" are from Wfigs members... Everything else is talking about the head scan process.

YOu are right. I think people just use the words interchangably.
Technically I think even true head scans are still sculpted partially before the final product hits shelves. Hair for example is often sculpted I think.
Some times I get annoyed by little things like this too. For me, since i am a ring and accessory fan, I get annoyed when people refer to ring posts and turnbuckle pads as turnbuckles. Ring posts are posts, turnbuckles are hooked buckles that turn to tighten, and turnbuckle pads are pads that cover the turnbuckle.
Wow im a nerd..
