I was at Indiana Toy & Comic Expo today. In addition to generally geeking out, I was on the look out for WWF Hasbros. The ones I was finding were really over priced (except for a Typhoon for $3) but on our way out, I found this little oddity. It's a GI Joe Sgt. Slaughter. The inner leg says 1986. I almost completely over looked it because I don't collect Joes at all. The people I was with were looking at other stuff at the table next to this one and my eyes wandered. I picked it up because it looked like Sarge, then I realized it WAS Sarge. We looked it up online but couldn't find much for it on eBay. size comparison with my new Typhoon: Generally, what's the deal with this? what's it's current market value? It was marked $5, but I got it for $4 Here's my complete haul from the convention

G.I.Joe figure which came with the Triple T tank in 1986. Add that to your ebay search and you may get more info.

Sgt Slaughter was a regular character in the GI Joe cartoon. I have a different Sgt Slaughter GI Joe that looks exactly like the mailaway. Here is mine.

I know I'm missing the baton that came with it. I like how they look the same. That being said, I wouldn't mind eventually buying that Sgt that came with the truck, since it looks like the Hasbro.

I wasn't a huge GI Joe collector at all, but I did have a handful of them, with that Sarge (and his tank) and a mail-away William "Refrigerator" Perry being the Crown Jewels.

I live in indy as well and I didn't go to the toy con because I knew they never have any hasbros. When they do they are beat to hell and like $9 for a pink brutus and I am not trying to spend that. I usually go to most of the smaller cons around here to see if I can find stuff and its very rare that I do.

It's not in the best of shape, but worth it to me for $3. The friend I was with got a pretty mint Piper from the same seller for $3. Same seller had a few other commons that I didn't need. I seen very few wrestling figures at all. Lots of Pop! figures. Everything was kind of high end and kind of crowded, but we had a blast. I'm looking forward to AwesomeCon in October.

Yeah I very rarely find anything. Theres usually one guy with a couple of them. Most of the stuff hasbro wise he has I sold to him haha. Awesomecon should be fun. I just wish there was bigger wrestling figure scene around here in indy. It would make finding things a lot better haha. Theres a thing called heroes and legends in sept. up in ft. wayne and usually at those events some vendors bring some great items

I live on the southside and usually try to stay around there, or out of the city all together.

That's the 1986 v2 Sgt. Slaughter www.yojoe.com/action/86/sgtslaughter2.shtml"Sgt Slaughter was first available as part of the fifth series (1986), packaged exclusively with the Triple-T Tank. He was also sold in 1987, then was discontinued domestically in 1988."

There are actually 6 different GI Joe Sgt. Slaughter figures. There was the original mail away figure (the one with the USA on his shirt), the Triple T version that came with the Triple T tank, the third version had a removeable hat and came with the Warthog amphibious tank, there was a JoeCon verion that was only available at the GI Joe Convention (can't recall what year), and then there were modern era updated sculpts of the first two available at San Diego Comic Con afew years back. I have all of them except the JoeCon one if anyone wants pictures. All are fairly inexpensive except the SDCC versions, especially the Triple T variant. The SDCC USA version sells for anywhere from $85 to $150 carded while the Triple T version can go for as high as $250 MOMC.

What's this thing worth these days? what's it typically sell for?

It all really depends on condition and whether or not the figure is complete. I see the version you picked up today, in that condition, go for anywhere from $10 to $15, maybe a little more on a good day, a little less on a bad one. lol It looks like a little paint is missing from his whistle? It could just be glare, but it looks like a small speck gone. Also, are the joints tight? That makes a difference as well as most want them to be as tight as possible for posing. Any stress cracks in the elbow joints? Also, if you had the baton that went with him, that could drive the price up to $20+. I have seen just the batons that came with the various Slauhgter figures sell for $10 to $12 and up. Also having the filecard could help his price as well. I guess what I'm saying... in a VERY roundabout way, is that it all depends on what someone is willing to pay for it.

No filecard or baton. All of the joints are tight, clearly never played with. I have to assume the few marks that are on it are actually from it being carted around to conventions and fairs and such. $10 to $15 makes me happy, because I did only spend $4 on it. I may have to shop it around if I ever need the money. Right now, it's standing with my Remco Thunderlips and CM Punk grow towel for weird wrestling toys.
