gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R7-260X-vs-GeForce-GTX-750-Tiwhich of these would play most/ or all of these games on high settings: Garry's Mod TF2 Left 4 Dead Left 4 Dead 2 Portal Portal 2 Counter Strike Counter Strike: Global Offense Counter Strike: Source Mirrors Edge GTA 4 and it's expansions and also: do I need to upgrade my CPU for this as well? My CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.40GHz if so, do I really need a pricey ($100+) CPU? Or would a $60-80 do the job thanks in advance EDIT: either GPU is good and +100 CPU is needed, can these work together or am i pissing my money away

I use the GTX 660 Ti and I'm very happy with it. I purchased it Oct. 2012 and its still going strong.
Take a look at this site: logicalincrements.com
Stick in the orange area and you'll be happy for a decent price.

Both of those graphics cards should run those games on high, and you'll probably need a better CPU that what you have other wise you'll bottleneck the GPU, I'd advise a AMD FX-4100 or FX-6300

I don't see a lot of difference, but I'd go with the Nvidia. Both GPUs should run your list in high settings anyway.
Your CPU looks weak though. I suggest either a 3.0 GHZ Quad Core or an I5.

Also make sure your ram isn't under 6gb the least for a good gaming experience (8gb and up recommended). And yes, you can mix and match parts easily.

Roman BellicThe two GPU's are pretty good mid-range cards and will most likely have good performance on all those games listed. I've never been a fan of the AMD Athlon series, they just don't pack enough power considering you can get a much better CPU for a little more. You'd get better performance with a better CPU but it depends on your motherboard. The AMD FX-6300 is arguably the best CPU for the price, and you'll get more performance with a CPU + GPU rather than just an expensive APU. So here is my recommendation, some games are more CPU based. You don't need 8 gigs of RAM, especially with the games you listed, you need 4 minimum, RAM isn't a priority just upgrade when you have the money/time. What are your parts? I'll find the compatibility for you. pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd6300wmhkbox

The Nvidia seems to outperform the AMD one. As for the CPU, I'd recommend a 3 ghz Intel i5 + 8gb of ram. You can't go wrong with that. As for me, I built my rig a year ago with really limited budget. I only have 4gbs of ram. It's true that the CPU & ram can be a bit too 'powerful' but if you build your rig with minimum specs, it will be outdated really quickly, which was my mistake.

Yeah you don't want to bottleneck your performance either way (GPU way out preforming CPU and CPU way out preforming GPU) a good balance gives you the best performance. So are you upgrading your PC or building from scratch? If you're upgrading tell me your motherboard.

upgrading my PC, but how can i determine my motherboard? Click Start Open All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and click System Information. This utility provides a good bit of information about your computer. On the System Summary screen, you will find the motherboard manufacturer (System Manufacturer) and motherboard model (System Model). For example, for a computer with a MSI motherboard, the manufacturer would be MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL and a System Model of MS-7599. The Model is the model number of the motherboard.

Let me point out that it's almost impossible to run GTA 4 on high settings simply because it was a terrible port and was poorly optimized...
Be careful what CPU you get, it has to be compatible with your Motherboard. (Unless you purchase a new Motherboard, but Motherboard replacement is a huge pain.)
