I'm new to figure collecting, so I'm not sure what is the best way to go about getting my hands on the upcoming Demolition Crush Elite that I absolutely MUST have. I could pre-order from RSC, but shipping is $9. As an Amazon Prime member, I could just wait for the Crush figure to hit retail and get free shipping, but I'm nervous that if I wait, the prices could get jacked up or I might run into some other snag that would make me wish I'd just pre-ordered. So what would you experienced collectors recommend? Would I be safe to wait for the figure to show up on Amazon and enjoy my free shipping, or am I gambling by not pre-ordering?

RSC is great and reliable. I've ordered many of their exclusives and have recently utilized their loose figure sales.
Not sure where you live, but I'm in Georgia. I doubt I will ever pre-order a regular release figure from RSC unless stores around me start limiting their elite lines. Amazon has decent prices, but you really have to keep an eye on them as they tend to fluctuate. If you have local stores that stock regularly, I would think you would be ok.
I'd suggest holding off. Ebay is always an option too. I've noticed with the majority of flashback figures, a month or two after retail release, you can typically pick them up close to retail price.

I check Amazon on a regular basis, and catching Elites on there can be a crapshoot. One week they'll have the new series in stock. They'll go in and out of stock the following couple days, and then they'll will be gone for a couple of weeks before Amz puts some more up. It can be frustrating during those dry weeks.
As far as recent FBs go, I never did see Trish (24), Bruno (25), Warrior (26) or Rikishi (27) sold by Amazon.
RSC and even retail might be more reliable if you really want Crush.

It's a risk ordering from Amazon because the rare figures go fast on there since Ringside buys them all to refresh their stock.
I just order anyone I really want from Ringside. It's a little more expensive, but I save the trouble of driving around. My stores either get an elite set once and then never again, or not at all. I like the security of knowing I'll get it, even if it costs a little more.

I say RSC for exclusives, presales, and some loose figures. If it's a series that just hit retail, but at retail. I never buy from amazon unless a deal is posted here

Just buy them at retail. Why pay double plus shipping for no reason?

Thanks for the replies. My only concern about retail is that I'm concerned they'll all be snapped off the shelves before I have a chance, but maybe I'll just hang back and try to catch them. If not that, I can always get them loose off Amazon. It's just tough for me to pay $30 for an action figure off RSC or anywhere else.

Umm , Amazon doesnt sell loose figures unless in the auctions. It stinks sometimes you can get really good figures from there when they hit Like Wm30 stuff but then the Scalpers will reign on your parade and put them on their own storefronts for rediculous markups. They do it with Lego and other toys.

If it's a figure I really want or RSC exclusive I preorder it from RSC. Anything else I wait until they hit my local stores.

Remember you can use discount code WFIGS to take 10% off your order. This usually covers most of or a good portion of the shipping for US orders.
