This thread is just reminding me of all the crap I have to do beyond my day to day. My extended family sucks so somehow it's fallen to me to hammer out the logistics of a baby shower. I bought a washer on August 10, which was supposed to be delivered last Friday. They tried rescheduling on me twice, before I finally said to hell with them, cancelled the order, and ran a new one elsewhere, thereby forgoing my right to a Saturday morning playing Madden. My brother is in Brooklyn cause his girlfriends mom died and he's coming back late Sunday night, and guess who has to drive forty minutes into Boston to get him? I practically live in my car and I've only got a few warm weekends left with which I can remove all four seats and give it a deep cleaning in anticipation of loading in a car seat. We have like a million classes my wife wants to take coming up, plus a tour of the hospitals maternity ward. Anybody wanna trade for a week and I'll like, take a quiz for you or something. Aren't women supposed to plan showers? I've had too many friends who have gotten knocked up and even if the extended family sucks, it's still normally a woman's job on that. I feel for you.

Quiz on Ancient Civilizations (Mesopotamia and Egypt) on Friday, honors extension due Friday. Memoir due by the end of September. I'll trade. I'm working towards a masters in History. Lemme begin by saying Ancient Civ. I love History but I hate everything prior to the Roman Empire. So namely the Greeks, Persians, Egyptians and Mesopotamians. Haha.

Dex, you'd probably spend less time on your homework if you didn't simultaneously involve yourself in arguments you can't win (you can't on this one, personally I'd love having three weeks to work on a RP, but not as much as I'd hate the 'Ugh this place is slow' posts every five seconds - and ultimately it would put people off, so I can't see it happening). If it's that much of an issue, rather than waking up at 5am find a way to cut down the time you spend doing homework, because 'homework' (God I wish I still only had homework - you don't even have to do it) shouldn't take 5 hours.

I dont think that was an argument, more so a discussion with different opinions. I go to a very prestigious high school that you must apply to, to get in. Doing my assignments and getting good grades gives me the opportunity to get into a good university such as Duke or Stanford. So essentially doing my homework leads to $$$.

Yeah I dislike it for the most part as well. I like more modern history, most notably the 1900s. Haha, what are you going to do with that degree, be a teacher?

Whatever you do, major in something real that generates a job. More and more people are majoring in hobbies, and then wind up sounding absurd when they bemoan the fact that they can't get a job.

And definitely don't major in philosophy because that hasn't done anything for me.

I realized I was an adult around the time that whole Occupy BS was going on, simply based on how damn angry it made me. I had about an hour and a half in between leaving work covered in oil and auto spam and my first night class of the night with which I could get myself a gas station lunch, chow down, and listen to talk radio while this was going on, and they kept interviewing chumps talking about a college degree being their guaranteed ticket into the middle class. Then they'd ask them what they majored in, and you got any number of (all real examples) hip hop management, oceanography, Egyptian literature, turn of the century literature, etc. etc.
For the love of god, before you sign the papers, sit back, look at the knowledge base you'll acquire, and ask yourself "what will I be able to do with this knowledge that someone will be willing to pay me to do, that I won't have to compete with 3/4 of the state to lock down?"

Haha, what are you going to do with that degree, be a teacher? University level, yeah. I have Poli Sci as a minor so with the two I'm sure if I really wanted to I could do some lobbyist work while I wait for a teaching opening but this is a great time to be a history major because it's like a mass exodus of retirement in this country of university level history/political professors. All but two of my professors I've had for history are over the age of 65 and a lot of their colleagues are taking retirement packages. Then it'll be our turn to get the jobs and keep a stranglehold on them till we turn 65. Heh.

Here's the advantage/disadvantage to degrees like that. The advantage is you have a specialty, but most of them have a general degree then a masters in that weird sh*t. Egyptian Literature, cool but that's probably a masters degree, with a bachelors in English or Writing. You can probably get a job teaching basic English/writing but most are too stubborn and want to teach their specific field. Doesn't work that way. You teach generalities, then when you have tenure go to town on your specialties and see if you can drum up interest with students you've had who could use it as an elective to get word out. My favorite professor ever, who I still keep close contact with to this day, wanted to run a Modern America course but didn't have enough students to get it to run. Me and another one of her student faithfuls Lexi, did a lot of leg work on campus and on the colleges social media pages, and she still credits us for getting the class to run. How many people saw the ads and were interested but never knew about it prior to that. Was cool. So it can work, just gotta bide your time. No one is guaranteed a job anymore no matter if you go to school or not. The market is volatile here in America, that is why a lot of people are willing to move out of the country to work. I get a job offer out of college in Canada? Later, Pittsburgh. Just my thoughts though.

You've got to have that backup major or marketable minor to make any sort of splash though, and that's where people like my brother who got a bachelors degree in graphic design with a minor in fine arts miss the damn boat. He's been out of school for four years now, and has only managed to find work with a collections agency doing quality assurance and still lives in my parents basement.

Which is why the Poli Sci minor helps me in particular. As long as there is American politics, there will be big business desperate for as many people to harass the politicians for earmarks as possible. That's where I come in. Heh. XD

| ANTE WHITNER HEIGHT: 6'1" WEIGHT: 225 lbs HOMETOWN: Yonkers, New York CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: None BIOGRAPHY: Diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder at a young age, Ante Whitner found a passion in the wresting industry, using it as a way out from his horrible childhood. A self-proclaimed maniac, Ante uses his a technical base to wear down his opponents in the ring. Big things are in store for the young warrior, and with his attitude changing by the second, you should always watch your back around this very dangerous man. |
I was wondering what y'all would think on this style for the roster page? And yes, Phillip Schneider has a pic base without a gun or a smoke.
