Since the Roster page needs to be updated, I once again updated the roster pics. These take longer to make, so prove your worth to get one. use a picture of Cobain that isn't the gun or cigarette.

Still, we're not going to maximize our potential turn-outs, and I bet for sure that the sign-ups are going to continuously decrease. 3 or so weeks gives people enough time, gives us a better turn out, and gives better RPs. There is no fault to that, besides the time of the results. Sign ups are going to decrease? Suppose I'm new to this. Like new-new. Never done it before. Suppose I sign up a week into this abysmal 3/4 of a month time span between the card going up and the deadline (never mind getting the shows up). I can't get on a show for another two weeks. I won't know the results for another four, assuming three weeks for everyone to find their favorite proofreader and another week minimum for the show to get posted. What's the motivation, during this dead time when nobody is going to be even posting on the board for me to stick around six weeks to see my first match come to fruition? Because they like to write? Seriously man, it's easier for some, but so many of us have other responsibilities beyond an E-Fed. Jayson does. Kyle does. I do. Shawn does. Phil does. And i'm sure I could add even more to the spectrum, and this is just off the top of my head. What's the motivation in writing if their are only going to be two fully handed in match-ups, and you know your opponent wont give their all?

I have other responsibilities, including performing in a play, captaining the school improv group, very tough schooling, among performing in another e-fed. Time management, that is all.

I managed to write a fairly lengthy storyline developing segment for this show and have plotted out this arch of my roleplays.

Eat dinner, it's now 6 PM. I do my homework for the rest of the day, then go to sleep at 11. I've got a crapped up schedule, and it's to the point where i'm considering waking up at 5 AM, just to RP.

How come I feel we just had this discussion with Kyle a week or so ago?

Oh! You have responsibilities! Well, geez, stupid me. I must have missed the part during the peak of my run as DB when I was not only writing rps but weekly segments with TNE, but also working days and nights, going to morning classes when I worked nights and night classes when I worked days, going through the torment of buying a house, helping plan two weddings/bachelor parties as best man, on top of juggling just all the day to day crap like trying to uphold some semblance of a social life and just making time at the end of the day to spend with my wife.
And then there's that whole "I'm going to be a father in four months", but that shouldn't be too big a deal, right?

I never stated that nobody has any responsibility besides me. Stop twisting things. Sure you're going to have a busier life ahead of you, which adds to my overall argument.

You're missing the point. Amid all that crap, I wrote a character that people, for some reason, still reference when talking about strong writing. Obo, amid all his crap, still wrote f*cking Obo pieces. When there wasn't time, we walked away - that's called time management. I eat lunch in my car or at my desk and tap away at my phone for short bursts at a time, and I'm damn proud of what I just put out using that method. Come January, if I'm too bushed to write on my lunch breaks or while my wife watches shows she likes, I'll walk away again, but I'm not going to begin to ask the entire fed to bend to the whim of my problems so I can continue writing, and with the biggest of your concerns in life trumped by those of us living real life day in and day out who might wish our biggest time eater was our high school homework, I think it's a bit bold of you to make that request.

But it's an issue the entire fed is facing. It only helps us all. It'll improve the quality of the RPs for some, it'll maximize hand-ins, and give more sign-ups as well.

I don't know where you're getting this "less shows=more sign ups" equation, but it's flawed in ways I've already described. The entire fed is always going to have life going on in the background. It always has, and it always will. Go out and find what few active Feds there are out there. This is the only e-fed with as lenient a schedule as we have. The more time you put between shows, the more you get that tired old "where are the results waiting game". Nobody likes waiting for the end game, and when this place crawls like that, people leave. Source: I've been doing this since you were four.

You have guys who were once active like Jayson and Kyle on the verge of cutting out for a while, and i'm even on that train as well. It's just incredibly hard to write an RP in a week, with everything that all of us have to deal with.

Yeah, in a perfect world we'd all have all the time we wanted to write and write and write, but the planet only allots us 24 usable hours in the day, and so we, as humans, have...*gasp*...choices to make. You know I've been doing even longer than rp'ing? Playing guitar. I've got 19 years under my belt since my parents gave me my first miniature Harmony sunburst. I dragged that thing around like Ritchie Valens in La Bamba. I love playing guitar. You know what's better? Finding other guys who play other instruments and playing in front of people. I've been in a handful of bands over the years, to varying degrees of excess. The last band I was in was full tilt, practice three times a week. We recorded a cd that can still be bought on certain Interpunk sites. I still listen to those songs and get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. It brings me back to when I was 22 - before I was married, developing a career, planning kids, etc. etc. I didn't have time, so I quit. I may not have time for this one day, and I'll quit. Someone will come along and take my place. You can be sure of it. I still pick up my guitar and play for hours some weekends, but there is no logic behind me setting aside even one night a week to try and play in a band. If you don't have time, quit. If you have time again one day, come back. It's as simple as the day is short.

Not going anywhere. 5 AM here I come. I love doing this too much to just leave, it was rather a suggestion that I believe would benefit quite a few of us.

I've got an absurd work schedule right now, and am still maintaining my own small business. I managed to write a fairly lengthy storyline developing segment for this show and have plotted out this arch of my roleplays. I wake up at 6 AM to go to school. Come home at 5 PM. I work from 11:50 AM until 12:30 AM 3 days a week, and 11:50 AM until 5 PM (or 5:30, or 6) the other three days. You can do the simple math, but that doesn't leave a whole hell of a lot of hours in the week at all. I also maintain a house and do maintain my own business. nights go until 2 or 3 AM with me physically running my machines, then I set stuff up to run for as long as they can run on their own without going berserk, so that at about 8 AM when I wake up, I can get just a little bit more done before heading to work about 3 hours later. That two or three hour window in the morning is the time when I can write. And eat. And do laundry. And pay bills. And shower. And get my d s'd so that I can keep up with this madness schedule.

This thread is just reminding me of all the crap I have to do beyond my day to day. My extended family sucks so somehow it's fallen to me to hammer out the logistics of a baby shower. I bought a washer on August 10, which was supposed to be delivered last Friday. They tried rescheduling on me twice, before I finally said to hell with them, cancelled the order, and ran a new one elsewhere, thereby forgoing my right to a Saturday morning playing Madden. My brother is in Brooklyn cause his girlfriends mom died and he's coming back late Sunday night, and guess who has to drive forty minutes into Boston to get him? I practically live in my car and I've only got a few warm weekends left with which I can remove all four seats and give it a deep cleaning in anticipation of loading in a car seat. We have like a million classes my wife wants to take coming up, plus a tour of the hospitals maternity ward.
Anybody wanna trade for a week and I'll like, take a quiz for you or something.

Quiz on Ancient Civilizations (Mesopotamia and Egypt) on Friday, honors extension due Friday. Memoir due by the end of September. I'll trade.
