Sorry if this is old news but I just realized these are out there . Has anyone else seen the new Remco AWA style "Realm of the Underworld" figures ? They are a little pricey , but I'm thinking about buying a couple to boost my AWA roster . Hercules would make a good Barbarian & Grym a nice Blackblood IMO : www.underworldfigures.com/

Hercules IS the Barabarian head! Grym is a Conan head from the old Conan Remco line and I am pretty sure that aerchyon or whatever his name is is sheik adnan el kaisie's head from the mat mania series. They are not only reusing the old remco bodies from all the old 80's remco fantays series but the heads as well. I hope they use a few more in the future.

I mentioned these in my blog entry a few weeks ago about the Remco AWA line. The "Hercules" head is a direct retooling of Nord the Barbarian. These were popular enough with collectors that the company, Zoloworld, is producing a second set. I'd love if the company would throw some money the way of some old school wrestlers that aren't tied-up rights-wise with any other company and put out some wrestling figures in the same vein, but it won't happen.

I'd actually really consider getting that figure. Not a customizer or anything, but since he's the only Mat Mania I lack.

Well I just found my next gimmick for my federation GRYM- THE EXECUTIONER I can't wait till they release this one. I hate to pay a price like that but for everything he comes with it's worth it. I'm going to transfer everything on to a Mattel but dang those pieces on him are sick.

Noticed that there taking pre-orders on a "Battle Pack" that includes fur accessories very similar to those that came with the original Nord.

Can they even do this? They reuse/recast Remco parts from Conan, Warlord, Warrior Beasts, AWA and charge a high price...

I have no idea "legally" how they're able to use recasted parts or whatever, but I wonder if other old AWA heads might show up on these things eventually - Mat Maniacs or otherwise. If they weren't so damn expensive, I'd be tempted to pick them up myself. Interested to see where this goes.

i been following them for awhile now...they bought the original molds that make the bodies parts, swords and sheilds...he has great pics of those..look like printing presses with the shapes of the arms and stuff in em.
i think its great to have a "new" line out based on the old 80s remco bodies...
from what i understand it has been a very serious and well thought out effort from day one of purchashing the molds,to the art work to the charecter conceptions... i am not sure but i beleave given what i seen that they may have bought the head molds also....
at any rate i think its awesome and i wish them the best with it... my hope is they will be come so profitable that they will put out a "generic" wrestling line...
as a 80s kid i miss seeing some generic wrestling figures with neat names and interesting looks... one guy i had from a generic line back in 86 was simply called "The Masked Man" but he had a great run of feuds in my awa collection back in the day...lol

I wish they'd use the Remco molds and produce new figures of past wrestlers similar to what Figures Inc. did years ago with their legends line.
Continuing the Remco line = license to print money.

Hey guys , I sent Zoloworld a message asking if they were familiar w/ the Remco AWA line & if they'd ever consider doing a line of wrestling figures ... here is their response : "I am completely familiar with the line and the figures as I have them ? this is something I may do in the future as the figures get more recognition. Please help spread the word my friend. Thanks again for the kind words!"

I love this line and it's just another reason I wish I wasn't dirt broke. The retro/art toy trend that's been coming up lately is really neat and Realm of the Underworld may be the best example from it, though if the Warlords of Wor follow ups are as good as Bognar, they'll have stiff competition (though that line is even more expensive). Shame I can't get into this racket

Zoloworld just teased some prototype AWA style wrestling figures on their Facebook page ! Looks like Boris Zukov & Barbarian/Brody types so far
