You either spend more then retail for a figure b/c you can't find it such as like a elite16 Nash or have a harder to find figure that is selling for a bit of money on ebay and you open it? I was thinking about this today since i need Elite 16 Nash and Diesel and both are a bit of money and don't know if i would open them when i did get them.

No, but keep in mind I'm a loose collector.

I'm a loose collector, so I open everything. If I decide to spend a stupid amount of $ on a figure ,I do it knowing that said figure is going to be opened. I've even told people I've traded w/ on here that MOC doesn't matter to me if it'll save them $ on shipping because I'm just going to open it anyway. IMO it defeats the purpose of a toy to leave it in the package. So no. I feel no guilt whatsoever in opening a figure. No matter how much it cost.

You shouldn't. Figures are for enjoyment. If u wanna open it go for it and enjoy the fig.

Don't feel bad, depending on who it is, some figures still hold close to MOC value. Just keep the packaging just in case you decide to hang it on your wall.

Maybe for a second, then I tear open the box and pose it around for a bit.

They're toys, do what you want with them...within legal boundaries.

No because I don't buy figures outside of mass retail. Unless I preorder from RSC and the extra cost was/is justified for getting them early.
