So, my music career bombed harder than Sunny on a cob for a line. It was fun getting on stage in front of people, performing for them, and actually have them enjoy my music, but sadly, it just didn't feel like something I could do for the rest of my life.
So it's not so much as defeat, or even failing, because I've signed a few autographs, which is worth nothing, and I've gained a few fans, but it's not the lifestyle for me.
It also didn't help that opportunity came knocking when my lifelong dream job came knocking. I'm an official US Steel worker now in Pittsburgh. I've always wanted to follow in my family's footsteps with this career, 2 Uncles, a Cousin and my Grandfather. My Dad was a Coal Miner, he just had to be different.
So yeah, to get back on subject, I'm back. I received my E20 in the mail and ordered the Champions series 29.
Thank you all for your support, and what I was doing was a rush!

Great to have a collector back. It´s unbelivable how many people are selling their collection´s at the moment. The Champion series is awesome! Will you collect MOC or loose now?

The best part about music is it's as much a hobby as it is a career. It doesn't go away, you've still got it.
Glad you got a job you wanted. And glad you're still collecting, I've been collecting various figures all my life. It's really just something fun to do, and most times it's really rewarding.

You have not been defeated. You tried. Not trying would have been to admit defeat. Besides, you said it yourself, you didn't fail, you just found something you'd rather do more. Congrats on the autographs & welcome back man.

I feel you. I started driving long hauls/over the road. It's nice, it's fun, decent money but then you start to miss being home. Or having a place you call home for that matter. Then I found my wife and it was just torture being away from her so I thought if I took her with we'd be fine. But even then it's not the same. So I took a local job in an effort to be home every day.
Sometimes things seem great but eventually you see that maybe you want something different from what you thought was perfect for you.

I think you change the thread title to "I admit to have experienced". You have not been defeated as you made the solid, valiant effort to reach for the moon Brother...to have thought about it and decided against trying..THAT would have been defeat. Glad you are back, that you are happy and have E20 to make you smile

Experience, that's leaves no room for regret. Now "what if" won't linger in the back of your mind later on in life. Welcome back brother.

So, my music career bombed harder than Sunny on a cob for a line. If you wrote even one song you are really proud of and turned at least one random person into a fan then it is very, very far from a failure. I tried my hand at the music biz a while back to the point of releasing a limited run (200 copies) of a completely self-produced CD. It didn't light the world on fire but it was received favorably and got some radio airplay so we're in the same boat. You don't have to give up on music either. You can still record songs and put them up at last.fm. Its free and you'd be surprised how much exposure you can get if you start tracking well. In any case, grats on the old and new careers. Keep the money flowing so you can keep on collecting

Everybody dreams. Not everybody goes after those dreams.
There is nothing wrong with anything you did. I can respect a blue collar working man, my dad has worked in a steel factory for as long as I can remember. Keep your head up and keep on going.
On a side note, go Penguins! On a tear right now. Exciting season!

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
To everyone who asked about my collection, I never sold any of it, it just sat on the pause screen for a bit.
To everyone who said I didn't fail, I know I didn't, just trying to make light of the situation. If I can't laugh at myself right?
I didn't release any CDs, but I did get to open for an underground band which was pretty cool. I laid out my 4 tracks I had written and produced and people really enjoyed it which was really cool. I think what turned me off was the fact that I already had a good life here right now. I just wanted to know what it felt like, and MAN is it a rush. Seeing about 200 people waving their hands in the air to your music and a humbling experience.
And to all who are wondering, I usually keep my Flashbacks and Legends MOC while regular every day figures are opened.
