I was actually out of the wrestling figure game when Mattel took over,so I initially had no plans to collect any. then I happened to go to K-Mart on January 1st,2010 with my wife and saw a display they had there for them. despite not planning to buy any, I walked out of there with Elite Series 1 Undertaker,Edge, and CM Punk, Signature Series 1 Batista and Cena, Entrance Greats Series 1 Mysterio and Trips, and 2-packs Series 1 Jericho vs HBK and Cody & Dibiase. then later that week I was in another K-Mart about 30 miles away and got all of Basic Series 1 and 2-Packs Series 2 Primo & Epico and Morrison & The Miz.
my wallet's been screwed ever since.

I didn't collect as much when I collected Jakks, I just bought a figure from time to time. But with Mattel I need almost every Elite figure they have lol. To be honest I had no idea Mattel took over the line at the time. I still saw Jakks figures in stores so I was clueless. I took a break from wrestling and returned when the Summer of Punk began. In early 2012, I was looking at my Jakks figures and was pondering on whether I want to update them or not. So I looked up figures for newer guys then saw they looked totally different/better from Jakks. I did my research, found it was Mattel, and have been hooked on collecting since.

My problem was when the news was initially broken the fact I had a big Jakks collection, I didn't think they'd fit together, which I stand by I don't think they do now unfortunately, but I sold 90% of my collection, kept a few of my favourite Jakks figures and just bought The Rock mattel figures. But for sure I admit I didn't want Mattel to takeover but they've done 100x the job I thought they would!

Wasn't really a collector to begin with.... but I'm slowly transitioning. I don't have a lot of income so I only try to buy the ones I really want, but it turns out I want a lot of them... lol This will be easier to digest once my son gets a little older and I can play with him and his future mass amounts of figures. Jakks figures were absolute garbage to me. I avoided them like the plague. I was a Hasbro kid back in the day but all of my figures (except a few) were left behind when I moved cross country with my folks. Mattel is knocking it out of the park though. I initially resisted when I would see them in stores, but I wish I hadn't. My first Mattel was Elite 11 CM Punk, second was Elite 12 Kane. I only have one of those two figures right now, and unfortunately it's not Kane. I should've listened to Vince when he said "THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE!"

I never cared about the whole would they fit in with Jakks, because I was never planning on displaying them together. My CS are displayed in their own section and the CSDA are on their own shelf...and while Mattel's are scaled to fit within each other universe I still display Legends with Legends. Elites with Elites. And Basics with Basics.

I didn't buy Jakks since the figures were terrible so I collected Sports Picks instead.
Started with Mattel since day 1 and stopped buying SPs.

I did the same and came back for Punk

As a lot of other people said, I didn't want to restart my entire collection and I was content with Jakks. Then I saw the first Mattel protos with HHH. And I right then and there said I would never buy a mattel figure. It was the ugliest thing I've ever seen, and I still feel that way about the first HHH Scans.
Then eventually I caved in and figured id grab a couple new guys like Sheamus, Miz, etc, I then found the Elite collection with my first ever being E3 Christian. I've been hooked ever since.

Well, I was forced to get into Mattel as my first figs were basic series 1. I still love it though. As much as Jakks.

If memory serves, I said I didn't feel like starting over a new collection, I was in college, etc. Then I saw protos and they were awesome. And here I am today still doing this...

Jakks BCA days I collected them all, but once they went to the new style bodies, I started fading away real real fast. It wasn't til the Classic Superstars line launched that I started picking up like 3 guys total from the entire line before quitting. Mattel's first year they launched the line, I was not a toy collector at all anymore, but it fascinated me some that WWE switched to the infamous Barbie made toy line. I really didn't hear about Mattel for the first year they made these, so when the second year approached, I finally checked some out at Toys R Us and fell in love ever since. It wasn't even the best series out for elites (Best of 2010 Elites) but they all looked so good I ended up picking up half the series, then went to a Wal Mart next door that had Elite 7 freshly stocked and grabbed up a couple of those. I came home with quite a haul that day and my new love for WWE figures at the age of 23. I jumped online right away, saw RSC had Elite 8 and 9 up for pre order so I got them too. Ever since it's been a huge money draining hobby.. but I love every minute of this hobby!

I stopped collecting for a while, so I missed the first 7 elite series. But once I got my Elite 8 Undertaker, my first mattel figure, I was in.

Yeah Mattel got me into collecting, once I saw DX advertising them on RAW I knew I needed to buy one. So the addiction continued

I instantly loved Mattel figures when I saw the protos for Elite 1 CM Punk and Rey Mysterio. Funny cause most of my collection is Basic yet I highly prefer Elites.

As soon as I saw the elites in store, I was hooked. Compared to Jakks last days, they were incredible. I still love Jakks, but Mattel are better.

I was nervous in the months leading up to our first look. I was sure I'd be buying lots of RAs on the bay and just customizing them to keep a current roster. But, once the first unpainted prototypes showed up on the board, I could see how awesome Mattel was going to be--I mean, the figures were in scale! Then, when we saw painted protos of people like Jericho and Punk with their realistic torsos and accurate kickpads and tattoos. Oh what a glorious day.
I think about this now and how spoiled I feel by Mattel. Like, if they released Jericho or something with plain boots, I'd be so pissed. Or if Undertaker/Kane was the same height as Zack Ryder... There would be a riot. Or how about if they gave John Cena and Randy Orton the same torso?! Oh memories...

I was not excited about Jakks losing the line since I had over 400 hundred Jakks RA style figures. When I saw the Mattel product I was pleasantly surprised. I had said I was done collecting since I didn't want to have to start over. The first 2 Mattel's I bought were the E2 Batista & the B2 CM Punk & I haven't looked back. When I had to move a couple years ago I got rid of all my Jakks figs, but I kept all of my Mattels.

I had collected some Jakks figures, but only sporadically and mainly of my favorite wrestlers only. I would have been a bigger fan of Jakks if they had done more with the R3 line. I didn't really jump on the Mattel bandwagon until Legends 1. Once I started getting Mattel figs though, I went from a casual collector to somewhat obsessive due to the quality of the product.

The line has had a strong last year or so in terms of Elites, Flashbacks and Exclusives. Hope they can keep it up.
